oh i was gonna subscribed on your channel but as soon as i saw you incorporate the sauce right away i immediately unsubscribed, as beef supposed to be sealed the flavour first by heating both sides tru pan.
This was a great tasting steak it cooked up perfectly and tasted great, the teriyaki marinade added a touch of sweetness but didnt overwhelm the steak flavour, and the meat (rump steak) was so tender that next time I'm going to try the same recipe with a cheaper cut of beef, maybe flank. Many thanks for a great and easy to do recipe ... cheers!
yo you gotta chop the meat before you marinate it so each piece is more flavorful, and when you cook it its more of a traditional stir fry. and you need sesame seeds!!!
instead of teriyaki marinate, use soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, vinegar, brown sugar, and ginger. soo much better
why would you want to use the kikoman teriyaki sauce? its not traditional that makes beef tasty. you should of made your own its very simple 4 ingredidients Sake, Mirin, Soya Sauce and sugar
In the UK the cost of Sake & Mirin is expensive, for Mikawa Mirin you pay around £5.00 GBP for a small 150 ml bottle. So for me using Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade makes sense because its an affordable substitute. If you want traditional go to a traditional Japanese restaurant.
Thanks a million Nicko. I made this for my wife's bday using entrecote (what you call porterhouse steak) and it was the best steak we have had ever!!! It's also so easy to make, even for people like me who don't know how to cook :-)
Nicko I was finally going to make this tommorow night (it's Sunday for me do it on Monday) would Top Sirloin work well for it do you think. Hubs normally grills a steak when we have them but didn't so now I have to do something with it lol and wanted to try this.
i will defently try to cook this for my fiance looks nice and what i like is not that fat well thanks for sharin and the food channel need to give u ur own show, i learn alot from ur videos thanks!
Well come to niko's kitchen "once again" haha it's funny niko xD everytime the video start it's the same line haha =P nice recipe anyways.. i enjoy watching ur vid and learning on the way =)
For a moment there I got scared. Don't do that ever again I was scared to death to thing that our cook got hurt and wouldn't be able to show as more recipes for a while. : ) loved it. I will definitely cook some for the fam. How many bottles of teriyaki would I need to make some for 14 people??? Is that a lot of bottles?
i think this is what i am having tonight!! i am snowed in i have a london broil in the freezer, just got scallions and i have some teriyaki, but not much, huh i havee soy sauce .. maybe i'll substitie and add a lil brown sugar to the soy to get better sweetness, or not what do you think
So it just takes about 3 minutes a side on medium-high heat? Did you take it straight from the fridge to the stove or did you let it rest and come up a little closer to room temperature before cooking it? Finally, I noticed you said it was rump steak. I think we call that top round here in the US -- would you happen to know if it was top round, sirloin, bottom round, etc?
Thanks again for the vid -- I'll have to make this soon!
yes about 3 minutes each side on med high, but that is med rare, so cook it longer if you like it well done. Always leave the steak out from the fridge for about 10 minutes, takes the chill off it. And you would call it top round :) great q's, thanks!
hey nicko guess what i made some of that earlier.. except i substituted the steak for (fish) fillet. i basically fried the fish separately then added cornstarch to the marinade and heated it to make the sauce.. and served it over white rice!
haha that'd be soo good :) i love your videos...... vegetarian or not i still make all your recipes for my family they always eat them up i think they'll enjoy this one tonight :)
lol thats right. My bad, I have actually been rewatching some of ur older recipes too coz i only discovered and subscribed to your channel end of last year, so trying to catch up with what i missed, and man, some of them are just out of the world!
bit of a shame. you could have made a wicked sauce real easily from basic ingredients.
