  • This isn't the original version, it's Aled Jones singing.

  • @roof30 It's not, Aled Jones has a welsh accent, i'm welsh I can tell

  • 30 years ago......

  • Sighs =) It is just not christmas without this film on the telly xxx Happy New Year EVERYONE! xxxx

  • -sigh- Seems this movie got past me as a kid. I didn't see it but this is a beautiful song!!!

  • the song and the fact the SNowman dies...seriously brings tear to a grown-up man. Brillant childrens cartoon that I watched back in the 80s. Best cartoon ever - Disney Bambi eat ya heart out.

  • Vuodesta toiseen tätä jaksaa kuunnella ja katsoa täällä Joulupukin kotimaassakin. Upea!

  • Watch this every Christmas, and this moment is the best bit. The film is almost perfect, but for the inclusion of Father Christmas (something not in the book). Great song, and a lovely animation (although 240p doesn't give either justice).

  • I never tire of this lovely song.

I have the dvd of The Snowman, and I always watch it every year at Christmas time.

Amazing how Peter Auty's voice sounds similar to Aled Jones's!

    Merry Christmas to everyone!!

  • Merry Christmas everyone!

    <wuz here, 12.25.11

  • I love it even if it is Aled Jones!!!!!!!

Love this movie and love the song!

  • @54321Judith just read your other comment, oops my mistake :P

  • I have loved this movie and this song for such a long time! Love Peter Auty's voice!

    💗🎄😄🐳⛄👱💗

  • THis sucks... Everyone thought Aled Jones sang this song in the film... So Aled got famous and this guy didn't. seems like a fail.

  • scored by Howard Blake who wrote both music and lyrics of the song

  • Flipping hell! My last names Auty :D I don't even know this guy :S

My name: Sarah Louise Auty :3

  • Haha, I love the bit at 1:16... only just noticed! :)

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!! XD

  • I'm feeling all Christmasy again... XD love this feeling!!! Love this song!

  • Never gets old. Reminds me of being a kid.

  • 2:54 Did it just mention something about a mighty pornstar?

  • Damn bitch aled jones !!Auty is sooo much better!!

  • @mesosmarticles I think both of them are fantastic.

  • magical

  • Brings back memories :-)

  • i was doing this in music to only notes i know from that is ADDCCA ADDCCA FG

  • 4 people aren't walking in the air

  • This film taught me that I can put a carrot, buttons, hat and a scarf on a snowman :')

  • love that film

  • Watched this in school the other day. We are 16-18 yr olds, but we were all transfixed. Brilliant film.

  • I think i broke my mums heart when i told her it wasn't Aled Jones that sang this for the film :(

  • I was -16 when this song first came about and yet it is still a huge part of my childhood

  • Better than Aled Jones. Peter's voice is just softer-edged, if you get my meaning, and he makes it more magical. That's my opinion anyhow. Aled's still good, don't get me wrong.

  • Aled Jone's version was fantastic but this one is just flawless. I don't anyone in the world could have sang it better than this kid.

  • Yes, its sad really...aled jones wrongly got the credit for this movie version...because they both have very similar accents...unfortunately due to time running out for production, the producers did not have time to add Peter Auty's credit in the movie...the 20th anniversary rights this wrong and Auty is finally given credit..but it's true that Jones made a fortune off this song..despite Jones singer the cover version in 1985. Auty went onto to be major tenor known through the UK and Europe rep.

  • u_u

  • this song scares the shit out of me ...... yesterday i heard it playing in the store and i shit a brick.

  • @chloeoneill12345 same! i think this is the creepiest song ever!! x

  • Love this one of my favourite Christmas songs

  • my too

  • IS IT IRONIC THAT THEY'RE NOT ACTUALLY WALKING AT ALL?

  • The snowman made me cry when i was nursery i love the film and song

  • i usually listen to this song when im upset it brings back so many memories

  • Remember this when I was like 3 and now I'm 25 time goes so fast

  • @rottweilers97

I first heard this when I was 25. I felt then as if I was 5 again. Now, at 53, I look forward to hearing it annually

  • I watched this for the first time 2 years ago in 6th grade choir, and we sang this in our winter concert. So beautiful! Wish it was on TV.

  • Aled Jones sang it better. Only an opinion.

  • wow, that brings back memories of being a lil kid. So powerful!

Remember those warm Christmas's where you were wishing Santa was going to come down and deliver your presents. Where you would leave him out mince pies and sherry. Where you would have trouble getting to sleep constantly looking out your window for him and thinking of Jesus being born. The lovely days of having all the family together drinking and laughing under that Christmas tree lit room.

    That is a real Christmas!

  • ah man memories. so emotional

  • I loved this song, when i was little(er) (, lol i'm 12) I couldnt sing this properly, so i just went, "We're walking in the air, we're walking on a moonlit sky, we're walking in the sky, we're walking very high...." lol xD

  • @badwolf2901

im 12 and still sing that?..

  • @jrfm1999 What?

  • @badwolf2901

i still sing the wrong words!lol

  • @jrfm1999 oh trolol :)

  • WOW!

  • This is my favourite song but I'm only 10yrs

  • What OzTurk is so right being a kid is probably the best thing

  • Hey u guys should hear Teenage Dream from Katy Perry it's kinda more rocking!

  • @cooljen2001 how is that related to this song? :l

  • Haunting yet magical, i remember this from when i was very young!

  • magical.

  • This is so beatiful song! I love it!

  • we use to watch the snowman in primary school, being a kid is probably the best gift in the world

  • @OzTurk Damn right about that!!!!! :')

  • 4 people aren't walking in the air

  • I'm playing this with my brass band. We aspire to make it beautiful, but this is still the best

  • I like this, Nightwish's version, and Chloe Agnew's version. They all are AMAZING. Kind of cool hearing a male sing it, even if it is a very young male.

  • Check out Walking in the Air by Nightwish. In my opinion it's as good as this.

  • @Executus300 I say nothing is quite as good as the original. I've been singing this song since I can remember. I still have this video on VHS.

  • this is weird, yet completely enchanting!

  • I've god chills on my entire body.:|..Wonderful!

  • Prečudovito ... :)

  • Peter Auty - the boy treble in this recording - went on to become a major operatic tenor star, at Glyndebourne and elsewhere... he's still singing :))

  • The images it conjures to this day amaze me. Every time, I go back to the first time I saw this movie, and wish to have those days of innocence back.

  • love this film and this is sung by one of my favourite choirs ever :D xx

  • @Dan1124444 its just sung by Peter Auty.

  • this guy sings it better than aled jones.

  • @MissWooHoo1 its him.....at earlier age

  • @darknite7608 u dumbass. aled jones is the one that got all the attention for this song in the video even though peter sang it.

  • Better version: /watch?v=ubeVUnGQOIk

  • Hi

  • So good to see this again. We always dig it out of our tape collection. Hard to find a DVD of the original version w/ David Bowie beginning it. What a super traditiion for so many families, to sob together! Now more than ever, I say!!

  • Peter Auty is sadly forgotten when people hear this wonderful version of his...They think only of Aled Jones...this is theeeee best ever version.

  • the way he pronounces his r's, is this the welsh accent or was the song specifically written to be sung this way?

  • has this version also been released as a single by now?

  • "We're walking in the air... We're floating in the moonlit sky... The people far below are sleeping as we fly... I'm holding very tight... I'm riding in the midnight blue... I'm finding I can fly so high above with you... Far across the world... The villages go by like dreams... The rivers and the hills... The forests and the streams... Children gaze open mouth... Taken by surprise... Nobody down below believes their eyes... We're surfing in the air... We're swimming in the frozen sky.....

  • Aled Jones' version only became the most popular one after he sung it for an advert. In interviews he is quite candid about the fact he'd never seen the Snowman or heard the song before - he learnt his lines, sung it and became a celebrity. If I remember rightly, Peter Auty's voice had broken long before this. Funnily, I weep like a chld at Peter Auty's version and not at Aled Jones' one. Must be the Welsh accent!

  • always thought it was aled jones you have been a shadow in many peoples ears including mine for more than 20 years .....i love your voice peter auty <3

  • Is he the original Superman??

  • @ImDaveCrazy yes :)

  • Ok so I thought Aled Jones was the original singer but I recently found out it's another guy called Peter Auty. So......how did Aled Jones come into the picture???

  • @mozart77 It was released as a single in 1985, three years after Auty's 82 film version. My guess is his voice had broken by then and they needed a replacement.

  • my fav version

  • @musicmanregina

yes best .. never mind the rest no one could beat this one

  • This is such a beautiful song. I had the book of The Snowman. Eventually I saw that actual film. This song never fails to make me tear up when I hear it.

  • I <3 this song and The snowman too

  • This song defines my childhood!

  • no one and no nothing will ever melt my heart like the snowman. i believe in him more than i do santa claus and am a very old 35 year old man. i love the snowman. my heart quivers everytime................................................i

  • same here <shelli> this came on the tv about 11 years ago, and i was walking by and stopped dead in my tracks.. it was such a beautiful song it still makes me cry today.. why cant the world be as beautiful as this song seems to me

  • love this so much

  • Absalutely Beautiful :)

  • beatiful

  • @benoitmaur Beautiful*?

  • Love this. I remember watching it for the first time in the 80's, I also remember crying! In fact, nothing much has changed it still makes me cry!!

  • me too, almost!

  • @Shelli133 Same with me! I loved this movie when I was little! But always made me cry that the snowman melts in the end. It also never made any sense to me why he melted & yet there was still snow on the ground. I still don't understand it to this day & this movie makes me cry still to this day as well.
