No he wasn't a franchise QB. He wasn't pick up in the first round because scouts thought his numbers, like Harrell's, were misleading because of the type of offense he plays. When faced with strong competition (UGA), he didn't do well. He was accurate but most scouts didn't trust his arm strength. Added his well publicized off the field issues, I can see why he wasn't drafted higher. He's young and if he stays focus, he might be great in the NFL when given a chance.
2006: 58 TD's 12 int's 5549 yards 72.6% fucking amazing!!!! the next year wasnt nearly as good, but still was really good and 2006 though i dont think any QB has put up those numbers in probably years and years. The team was going to give Campbell an extension after the 6-2 start, but waited another year after the WHOLE OFFENSE fell apart. I'm a big Skins fan myself and I can't wait for Colt to get his shot cause Campbell has been a bust except for those first few games last year, but it would be better for the team if they re-sign Campbell and let Colt earn the spot. I don't think he would have it any other way since he's had to fight for everything he's gotten up till now.

No the redskins are trying to bring a veteran quaterback in. they were talking to leftwich last week but he still seems to be undecided. if the redskins bring in another vet it will likely end brennan run with the redskins unless they keep 4 quaterbacks on the roster. lets see what happens after the draft and that will tell you because colt will remain number three behinds campbell and collins.
Brennan has a lot of potential, especially in an offense suitable for his skills. The Skin's O-line does indeed need help. JC went down 38 times in 08-09. JC does have a strong arm, but also a slow release. Having 4 different offenses does not help, but a lot of JC's problems also stem from his inability to make quick decisions and read the defenses. This is an important year for the Skins and JC. Whatever happens, I hope Colt will find success in the NFL, whatever team he is on.
In regards to the Skins, Colt probably won't start at all this year. I think that Campbell earned being the starter after the FIRST HALF of the 08 season. With that said, if Colt has a preseason as good as or better than he did last year, there's no reason he can't compete for the #2 spot on the roster. If we finish the 09 season with around the same record as 08, aka no playoffs, they should re-sign Campbell and let Colt compete for the starting spot and the loser becomes the backup.
Jeff George and Rich Gannon threw with a sidearm motion. If you see Brennan, he does throw over the top on longer passes. Because he stands tall in the pocket -and is very accurate- he can complete a lot of passes. You will more than likely not see a 70 yard strike, but not bombs are completed these days. Short passes, high percentage ones are the norm. The defense these days are quick and do not give a QB much time to set up the long passes.

And they probably want to keep him safe from the NFC East D-line for a while considering Washington's O-Line is a joke(Only one thats good is Samuels and he is reaching the end of his career). JC isn't the problem. The problem is he has been through four different offenses(thanks to Dan Snyder). And the Skins don't have an O-Line to protect him. Brennan had a great pre-season game against the Indy this weekend. And to the person below that said he cannot read a blitz, I beg to differ. One of the strengths on Colt is his ability to read defenses and go through his receiver progressions. His arm is not a rocket, just adequate to be honest. But he stands tall in the pocket, has a quick release and is very accurate.

No he wasn't a franchise QB. He wasn't pick up in the first round because scouts thought his numbers, like Harrell's, were misleading because of the type of offense he plays. When faced with strong competition (UGA), he didn't do well. He was accurate but most scouts didn't trust his arm strength. Added his well publicized off the field issues, I can see why he wasn't drafted higher. He's young and if he stays focus, he might be great in the NFL when given a chance.

2006: 58 TD's 12 int's 5549 yards 72.6% fucking amazing!!!! the next year wasnt nearly as good, but still was really good and 2006 though i dont think any QB has put up those numbers in probably years and years. I dont get why he was picked in the 6th round he played way better than brady quinn in college especially in 2006. This guy should be a top 5 QB in the NFL those 2006 stats were just perfect.

The team was going to give Campbell an extension after the 6-2 start, but waited another year after the WHOLE OFFENSE fell apart. I'm a big Skins fan myself and I can't wait for Colt to get his shot cause Campbell has been a bust except for those first few games last year, but it would be better for the team if they re-sign Campbell and let Colt earn the spot. I don't think he would have it any other way since he's had to fight for everything he's gotten up till now.

By the way, think about the Ravens and Falcons for a second. They both got lucky. How many QBs do you know that are in the league right now that started in their rookie year and turned out great, there are no more than a handfull of them. You have to let them learn, which is what I'm guessing Zorn is trying to do. And like thewho6507 said, we need a steady line for Colt to be successful due to his size, do you want him to end up like David Carr and have to run for his life every other play?

No the redskins are trying to bring a veteran quaterback in. they were talking to leftwich last week but he still seems to be undecided. if the redskins bring in another vet it will likely end brennan run with the redskins unless they keep 4 quaterbacks on the roster. lets see what happens after the draft and that will tell you because colt will remain number three behinds campbell and collins.

Brennan has a lot of potential, especially in an offense suitable for his skills. The Skin's O-line does indeed need help. JC went down 38 times in 08-09. JC does have a strong arm, but also a slow release. Having 4 different offenses does not help, but a lot of JC's problems also stem from his inability to make quick decisions and read the defenses. This is an important year for the Skins and JC. Whatever happens, I hope Colt will find success in the NFL, whatever team he is on.

In regards to the Skins, Colt probably won't start at all this year. I think that Campbell earned being the starter after the FIRST HALF of the 08 season. With that said, if Colt has a preseason as good as or better than he did last year, there's no reason he can't compete for the #2 spot on the roster. If we finish the 09 season with around the same record as 08, aka no playoffs, they should re-sign Campbell and let Colt compete for the starting spot and the loser becomes the backup.

Jeff George and Rich Gannon threw with a sidearm motion. If you see Brennan, he does throw over the top on longer passes. Because he stands tall in the pocket -and is very accurate- he can complete a lot of passes. You will more than likely not see a 70 yard strike, but not bombs are completed these days. Short passes, high percentage ones are the norm. The defense these days are quick and do not give a QB much time to set up the long passes.

He's a rookie, number 1. And they probably want to keep him safe from the NFC East D-line for a while considering Washington's O-Line is a joke(Only one thats good is Samuels and he is reaching the end of his career). And pre season doesn't matter, Colt was playing against players that weren't even signed. He will be playing in two years though if Campbell doesn't step up his game. But I think we should keep Campbell as the starter and rebuild our O-Line so our QB's don't get fucked up as much

JC isn't the problem. The problem is he has been through four different offenses(thanks to Dan Snyder). And the Skins don't have an O-Line to protect him. We could have Larry Fitz and Brady on our offense and we would still not be great, because there is no protection. Colt Brennan is a rookie and hasn't earned the trust to start. He was phenomenal in college though

Rich Gannon and Jeff George often dropped their elbows to a sidearm delivery. Colt does throw over the top on long passes and is extremely accurate -his arm strength is adequate but nowhere near Jeff George.

Brennan had a great pre-season game against the Indy this weekend. And to the person below that said he cannot read a blitz, I beg to differ. One of the strengths on Colt is his ability to read defenses and go through his receiver progressions. His arm is not a rocket, just adequate to be honest. But he stands tall in the pocket, has a quick release and is very accurate.

absolutely untrue there have been tons of great QBs like manning, brady, favre, montana, elway,etc. but they were great because they could find ways to avoid defensive pressure and get the ball to an open man
in this reel all im seeing is brennan's receivers completely and utterly dominating the coverage brennan doesn't even move around that much! also, i believe that the Georgia game proved that when he goes up against a team that is halfway decent Brennan crumbles under the pressure

He is able to scramble like crazy in order to get the first down. Thats what our new offence needs. Colt Brennan wont scramble much. Colt Brennan will be another gun slinger if he gets to play. I think the guy has grit. I seen him play and take some licks against Boise State, then get up and drive down the field 90 yards. He has some grit folks, but he will never be better than say a Jeff Garcia level QB.
