Yeah, at first when i heard her voice, i thought it was okay - wasn't too fond of it. But then I saw the show, and I thought it was absolutely perfect for the role and the score. She is definitely a phenomenal actress.

@runnyc33 I agree with you. When you're playing the part of a woman with bi-polar disorder and delusions, you have to put forth a crazy amount of intensity and energy that usually means the notes aren't perfectly on-pitch or well-sung.

If you watch, Aaron is totally out of character when Jen is singing and then when Alice steps up you can see him change into character. Pretty cool

NONE of the youtube Next to Normal vids give the show any justice. I went to NYC and saw it last sunday, and although aaron wasn't there, it was still amazing! and kyle dean was some good eye candy... haha. This has to be one of my fave songs in the entire show, along with I've Been.

while that is true, i advise everyone to go see it in person. if you loved the performance on the tonys then you will LOVE it live. it is so haunting and beautiful and real. nothing else like it on broadway, i can promise you that.
