But I'm gonna do the best I can and stay away from meat, starting now!
@TheRealNatascha I wish to try and do the same, ye it will be very hard for me. We could both start out by buying "free ranged" meat and chicken and such...
E. I dont know what to think. I have eat meat all my life. The argument of the people that says that is nature, is not a real one. Meet is just food. Like any other. Anyway, I do think this debate must be open. This is very wrong. E.R.
I'm a Vegetarian, and im not against eating meat, since it is human nature, but they way they abuse animals in order to get meat is horrible. even wild animals kill their prey before eating it, so they do not make it suffer.
How can people even do this to animals willingly? I couldn't even have a thought like that go through my mind without wanting to cry or feeling extreme pain. Peta and the APL should team up together and force cruel places like this to shut down and have cruel workmen replaced and charged with cruelty to animals. Not out of revenge, but out of love, I want the people who mistreat animals to see how that feels. As they will have to live as a mistreated animal in their next life, I get my wish.
I've been vegetarian for a few weeks now after watching Earthlings. This is just terrible. And for those saying meat isn't the problem, it is. Do you know how many hormones you're eating? Do you know that you HAVE to kill animals in order to produce it? It's terrible. I haven't eaten meat in weeks and have felt INCREDIBLE. Our body needs protein, not meat necessarily. Vegans/vegetarians live on average 6-10 years longer than a meat eater. That says something right there.
I wonder, can anybody tell me what steps has the PeTA taken after making this video? Has the slaughterhouses been giving better treatments to animals since?
@badhunter723 i'm not completely sure so u should look for some other info.. but many slaughterhouses have been sued, furthermore, several workers have been imprsoned because of behaviors similar to the ones on this video.
@CyprusHot "yeah i don't like the fact that these shoes are made from slaughtered humans but yknow, they don't have to be made that way, so it's okay..." very strange thinking there...
I become a vegetarian and have been for a couple of months now after seeing these videos it's discusting sick and most of all cruel expecially the kfc and macdonalds crulelty its outrages they should be made to get better conditions for there animals and STOP with the cruelty, those people that do it wouldnt want to be put in cages so they cant move they wouldnt want to be slammed against the wall and laughed at !! they should get a heart because there definately lacking one, poor animals x
To be honest, I used to think Peta were crazy... I was ignorant. I tell myself I am going to become a vegetarian so that I can stay in good health but it never happens, after seeing this video, I am committing myself to becoming a vegetarian. I never knew how horrifying the animals and fish face just to become food. Damn... I am disgusted by these methods. But either way, we humans do need meat to survive...
Realistically, it won't be possible to convince the majority of western society to stop eating meat. The only viable way to stop animal suffering is through research and development of in vitro meat solutions.
Please have a heart. Look what happens to these poor animals! Imagine if Chimpanzees took over the world and slaughtered HUMANS for food! (Highly unrealistic, but think about it) What if you were in those poor animals' shoes?
@bayleylovestosing Well, if you lived in the jungle, you'd probably become food. That's the nature. The problem is not eating meat, the problem is how they are treating animals.
lol people, grow a shlong for a second. how do you want to slaughter them? have a ceremony for each one? maybe have their feathers massaged off? seriously, there is much more important stuff to worry about than getting butthurt over chicken conditions.
I'm a vegetarian and I understand that we were "meant" to eat meat but why can't it be done in the right way.why is America so greedy that the animals have to be killed that way just to save a couple bucks? The native Americans ate meat and they killed the animals in a peaceful way. I understand completely that people want to eat meat, but it's really unnecessary for it to be done in such a cruel way. We think too much and feel too little.
@homeyhomedawg i quit eating meat and found it very easy. i used to love eating meat but when it came to justifying it i simply couldn't so one day i stopped. simple.
Everyone can't be vegetarian. The cows release methane in their fart which is enough to totally destroy the ozone layer in huge amounts. If everyone is kind to become vegetarian, who will stop reproducing the cows or even kill them till a certain amount ?
@MightyUniqueNinja there are only a high number of cows because we breed them to become food. if nobody ate cows, their numbers will decline. besides, there are many other animals that produce higher levels of methane, you don't see anyone complaining about high levels of dung beetles, do you?
You don't have to stop eating meat, you can try to eat halal meat. The cows, chicken and other animals are being treated differently, and slaughtered in a much better way and the animal is not gonna pursuit that kind of damage like this video is showing
@2620servet Halal is worse, you cut up the throat WHILE THEY ARE ALIVE and leting all the blood out while the poor animal is panicing and then after a very long time, the poor animal finaly dies.
@2620servet you can't 'slaughter' something in a 'much better way'. slaughter is slaughter. besides, it's worse. they're still alive when they're slaughtered.
I understand there has to be better way to raise and kill these creatures but i also understand that thousands of human would starve if we did not kill them and i wonder if peta and Sir Paul o high and mighty understands that those plants you are killing to eat are living things too and they breath and reproduce and even adapt to climates changes so i think they should think how many of those are ripped out of their home and chopped up still alive and maybe they feel pain too ,,,
@unicorn42101 there's something wrong with you if you don't understand why people have a more extreme reaction to seeing sentient, high functioning animals tortured and slaughtered than to pulling a plant out of the ground. Also, producing meat is extremely energy inefficient and it would actually be much easier to feed the entire world on a vegetarian diet than on an omnivorous diet. plant production is highly energy efficient and nutrient efficient also.
@unicorn42101 wrong. they dont feel pain. evolutionary they dont need sth like that for their surviving.
plants dont have nerves which connect every part of their body with one big centre (like the brain). this kind of argumentation includes, that you also shouldnt kill bacteriums.....and you will go on doing this, am i right? ;)
We are in a trap, if we become vegetarian then the vegetables and fruit are farmed in such a poor way they can't provide all the nutrition. I tried the vegetarian diet for years, but i suffered anemia so bad i was forced to return to meat eating. Now i am going back to the vegtarian diet and will take vitamin supplements.
In any case, all this horror we see is the sign there is something seriously wrong with the world, the cruelty we see is the symptom of some hidden problem.
@yhing1000 I am vegan and I have my iron levels tested and they are normal. For me it isn't hard, I don't know what you've been eating but clearly it isn't the right food. :/
Awwww i saw the kfc thing too and i dont feel like eating anymore meat:( i get it, we do sorta need the animals to survive, but why cant they kill it in an easy manner?.. Do they really need to torture it? Im only 13 so its hard for me to kinda understand but i really dont feel like eating any more meat but its hard when youre kinda born into a family of carnivores. Its not a religious thing but..uuggh i dont know its gonna be hard to stop earing meat ':(
@BeautyByAlannah It was hard for me to become vegetarian too and my family still pokes fun at me, but you have to remember: you have nothing to be ashamed of. you're making a beautiful compassionate choice because you care about he suffering of things outside yourself. if people want to ridicule you for that, they have a problem, not you. you can do it!
I was shocked, disgusted, sadened and angered to see this video. But I will not become vegeterian. The problem is not eating meat, it is with the industry. The sensless pursuit of profit leads to these atrocities.
By nature, we are not vegeterian. We are omnivores. Our bodies are constructed to eat and digest meat. Vegetarianism is a choice that I respect, but it is a choice.
@simplebonsens By not becoming vegetarian you are supporting the industry. Unless you only eat meat from local farms that you have checked out and seen for yourself that it doesnt commit such atrocities.
@simplebonsens yes vegetarianism is a choice, and you are choosing now, despite supposedly being "shocked, disgusted, saddened and angered" by the brutality you've seen in this video, to continue supporting all of it. It's really pathetic the way you're making excuses so that you can feel ok about yourself while you support brutal killing and torture. "oh yeah i don't like what the nazis are doing over there in germany, but i'll keep buying nazi-burgers, cuz, yknow, theyre good"
@simplebonsens We are not omnivores but we are not vegeterians either.
Hydrochloric acid is necessary for the digestion of protein. Proteinous *nuts* require the hydrochloric acid of the stomach to provide an adequate medium for the enzyme pepsin to act on the protein. But true carnivorous (meat eating animals, and 'omnivores' are meat eating as well) have in their digestive tracts a highly concentrated hydrochloric acid, about 1100% more so than ours.
@simplebonsens : not entirely true, we have many features in common with herbivorist, like the lenght of our bowel, our saliva, our teeth, our lack of meat eater instinct....
@simplebonsens The problem is in the industry, and for me vegetarianism is my way of boycotting these industries. Isn't that what we do with other companies why is this industry different. We are meant to be omnivores and animals were put on this earth so we could use them but that still doesn't give us the right to treat them like this. in my view vegetarianism is the only way out.
@simplebonsens We actually ARE vegetarian by nature. To make it easy for you, here is a funny video which shows facts though. You can search about them individually too. youtube.com/watch?v=MkO-4jZs51E
Do you think humans were eating meat from the start of their existence? Before they could even cook it on fire? They would have dies from toxins and disease if they did. Raw fruit and seeds is our nature. Meat is our nurture.
@simplebonsens Actually, you're misinformed. SO WAS I, all 37 years I consumed meat & dairy. The human digestive & intestinal system isn't constructed to digest dairy & meat. In fact, all meat & dairy turns the human body toxic. Animal fats build up inside our arteries, deposit in our brains, and cause a myriad of degenerative diseases, ill health conditions, terminal illnesses, etc.
@simplebonsens EDUCATE YOURSELF. Watch Gary Yourofsky's "The Best Speech You Will Ever Hear" here on YouTube. You will be *shocked* & probably APPALLED at what you learn. I was. It changed my Life & Health for the BETTER. <3
@simplebonsens PEOPLE LIKE YOU NEED TO FUCKING DIE,THIS EARTH IS LIKE THIS,BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU!! WE ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO EAT FUCKING MEAT,DOGS HAVE TEETH FOR EATING MEAT,WE HAVE TEETH FOR VEGIES & FRUITS,YOU DISGUSTING PIECE OF SHIT.
DONT PRETEND YOUR SAD CUNT,
Plants, Animals both have lives. It's just what evolution is all about. Cruelty is not something anyone can tolerate. So instead of quitting meat or plants let's get the Meat Industry to straighten up a little..
I don't know if I should like this video because it gives us awareness about how animals are treated or dislike it because of all the animal abuse... But overall, I will never EVER look at meat the same way again. EVER.
I feel like at the least the treatment of animals in slaughter houses needs to be better. The way they kill and even raise them is torturous. I don't see how an official could see this kind of treatment and allow these slaughter houses to stay open. I just think at the least there has to be a better way to do it.
Something people need to understand is this may be the stereotype, but it is for the mass production industry. I personally don't agree with some of the methods used, but these methods are not used by the small section of the industry. Where I live and work I have never seen these things done. Something else people must understand is that some of the methods used in the video are seldom used, even today.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE. someone tell me are they arrested for animal cruelty? AND IF NOT WHY THE HELL ARE THEY NOT WITH FOOTAGE OF THEM!?
Oh my goodness. This is horrible! I've been eating meat less and less over the past year, and this has definitely helped me make the decision of trying to become a vegetarian. Bloody hell. Those poor creatures.
Maybe it's easier for me to understand and love animals because I have always adored them ever since I was a child. But as a grown-up, I realize that I need to support my actions and beliefs. Animals should not be judged by whether they can think, or reason, or use logic, it should be by whether they suffer. And they do. It was one and a half months ago that I watched this, and one and a half months I have been vegetarian.
this is completely terrifying... its sad... i loves me some chicken its hard tew give away but and the end of the day yuh have tew do whatcha gotta do. GIVE UP MEAT
we're animals and bigger, smarter, or faster carnivores/omivores eat each other all the time. the way a lion eats its prey is even more horrific than this video. are you going to go stop all predators from torturing their prey now? meat is delicious and full of protein. i agree torture and these horrific conditions are unnecessary and should be stopped, but that doesn't mean anyone has to stop eating meat. humans are not herbivores.
@ileavecommentshere how aren't we herbivores? the way the lion kills its prey is just nature, it was made to do that, if we were biologically made to eat meat then why don't we have bigger, sharper teeth? or bigger sharper claws? instead we have flat teeth that are made perfect to chew soft fruits and vegetables, and if you look at our digestive system from a biological stand point it was so much easier to digest fruits and vegetables than it is to digest meat.
I'm a big fan of horror movies I watch movies like saw. However I couldnt watch this video after about 7 min...this made me cry, and think how horrible our world is.
wow. just to let you guys know no all farms to produce meat are like that. and who ever is the person doing the stunning is doing it wrong and using the wrong methods on the wrong animal. i have visited a slaughter house for a course that i took. not all slaughter houses are like that.PETA just likes to take footage from the worst ones and say that all slaughter houses.
Out of all things to kill like that...the LITTLE PIGLETS ?!?!?! Im a guy and the baby pig squirming after being slaughtered really brought out my soft side, but honestly...im not gonna be Vegan, but im not gonna eat meat from places like that.....sad.
I'm a vegetarian and seeing this just pisses me off again and again. Humans aren't 'evil' they just don't care. Whether or not there's a difference, only time will tell...
i once found a comment on another video that said: "Auschwitz starts there where somebody stands in front of a slaughterhouse and says: `They are only animals`"
well, its truly upsetting to see that humans can act like this. but we cant go vegan, we just cant. this should make you open your eyes instead of shut them. by this i mean instead of shutting your eyes and saying "im vegan and im done with meat." you should be saying "what can i do to make sure this stops?" meat is a something we need to stay healthy. so donate to the cause to save animals not let them die in vein.
@EditsByUs If you do a little search, you'll see that humans don't need meat to be healthy. You can take all the essential amino acids your body needs to produce protein from vegetables, nuts, etc. A vegetarian/vegan diet is at least as healthy as a meat-eater's diet.
Well ... I sure do feel bad for the animals, i mean ... Who wouldn't ... But hey, like nature forces animals to kill eachother to live, i guess we're just doing the same, we cannot live healthy without the proteins that comes from meat, so ... It hurts to look at, but it's not gonna stop me from eating meat ...
@Dollerey I live healthy without eating animals.I don't feel guilty after a meal either. And if I see a cheetah kill a gazelle for it's nutritional value, i don't take it as an excuse for me to do the same. Instead, I realize that we as humans aren't cheetahs and the cruelty that some of us support, whether it be directly or indirectly, can't be justified. I made my choice years ago and I chose to no longer be selfish in the aspect of survival.
I don’t think becoming a vegetarian is the answer. Not buying meat does nothing to improve the conditions of these tasty animals. To make a difference you need to buy meat, eggs, etc. from companies that treat the animals humanely. The reason there are more cage free chicken farms today is not because we all stopped buying eggs, but rather because we all started buying cage free eggs. The change we should make is to do our research and buy products from companies that treat their animals humanely.
Going vegetarian won't stop people from eating meat nor the industry to become to a halt. For every vegetarian there are many more meat eaters. I dislike animal cruelty, and truly hate these assholes in the video but I'm not going to stop eating meat. Support animal rights, just not PETA.
I've got the whole DVD for one year now and still couldn't watch it to the end because I start crying everytime I see the cruelty human beings do to that poor animals! GO VEGGIE!
humans dont need meat to be healthy, in fact we are healthier without it. We kill and eat animals because of our appitite, and that is the most horendous fact on meat consumption.
Animals eat meat and people eat meat. And i think its pretty normal. But this is so sick, the way theyre tortured! i mean what sick person can do that to an animal? Of coarse being slaughtered isnt fun, but there should be rules about it. At least how their raised. I wouldnt want to eat an animal that was raised in filth and was sick and also unnatural. And thats discusting also. Even animals raised for meat shouldnt be treated that way
@eiliens12 So let's assume that God exists and that he said that humans are more important that animals. Does that justify the way we treat them? If an animal is less important than me am I justified in torturing or killing them because I think they taste good?
@eiliens12 and is god an advocate of this kind of cruelty? and if he is, why do you follow him? i don't much care that you won't be a vegetarian, but at least justify your reasons properly.
@BrokenAngel2011 this drove you to the point of vegetarianism yet you still spend money on the internet and your cell phone and car if you ask me its the entire human race that disgusts me not just the food industry
@allister132 I disagree with you! While I do not deny that humanity is capable of cruelty and selfishness, it is also true that humans are capable of great compassion and generosity. Go the website "peaceful societies". Also the fact that this video is shown is proof that there are people who care!
Leda was my original inspiration to become vegetarian as my New Year's Resolution. This was just that solid thng I needed to egg me to 100% sure. So glad I came across this.
I actually hope that the animals go nuts and destroys the human race. Mankind sucks and it's nothing you can do about it cause its in our nature, unfortunately.
@ImaNaab We are the dominate being. We eat other animals. And guess what. ANIMALS ALSO EAT OTHER ANIMALS. It's not like humans are the only ones. Just shutup.
@BagelTanker I think you're missing the point. Other animals don't abuse their prey by growing them in crowded, disease ridden boxes; they don't drive them insane with years of constant abuse and torture; they don't genetically modify them to produce more meat or milk. While I'm well aware of the mounds of evidence suggesting that meat is not good for human diets, I don't think killing an animal and eating it is really terrible, but factory farms are disgusting and inhumane. Find a local farmer.
@ImaNaab Was it in the nature of those who made this video. Humans are just another species of animals, we need only to change our ways. Anyways you cannot say something like that without wishing doom upon yourself. Overall I am on your side but at the same time I don`t think you have the right solution.
@ImaNaab It is absolutely false! There are many societies around the world where when you kill an animal, you should it humanely and stay with it, until it dies comforting it.
It is sad that the treatment of animals for slaughter has been so cruel. I remember reading about a process where synthetic meat is created from DNA of animals generally consumed by people. If that could become something we could find in the grocery store, then I would support it and be able to eat meat without feeling bad about it.
Lastly, I like to believe that not -all- animals raised for slaughter have this same experience.

Realistically, it won't be possible to convince the majority of western society to stop eating meat. The only viable way to stop animal suffering is through research and development of in vitro meat solutions.

I'm glad I am a vegetarian, this is horrific.

Everyone can't be vegetarian. The cows release methane in their fart which is enough to totally destroy the ozone layer in huge amounts. If everyone is kind to become vegetarian, who will stop reproducing the cows or even kill them till a certain amount ?
MightyUniqueNinja 1 month ago
@MightyUniqueNinja there are only a high number of cows because we breed them to become food. if nobody ate cows, their numbers will decline. besides, there are many other animals that produce higher levels of methane, you don't see anyone complaining about high levels of dung beetles, do you?
gergywergy123 1 month ago
@MightyUniqueNinja
The only reason why there is such a large population of cattle is because of the demand. Cows, after all, are basically raped to meet that demand.
Do you really think once the demand ceases, there will really be such an unnatural amount of cows?

I understand there has to be better way to raise and kill these creatures but i also understand that thousands of human would starve if we did not kill them and i wonder if peta and Sir Paul o high and mighty understands that those plants you are killing to eat are living things too and they breath and reproduce and even adapt to climates changes so i think they should think how many of those are ripped out of their home and chopped up still alive and maybe they feel pain too ,,,
unicorn42101 1 month ago
@unicorn42101 there's something wrong with you if you don't understand why people have a more extreme reaction to seeing sentient, high functioning animals tortured and slaughtered than to pulling a plant out of the ground. Also, producing meat is extremely energy inefficient and it would actually be much easier to feed the entire world on a vegetarian diet than on an omnivorous diet. plant production is highly energy efficient and nutrient efficient also.
stethoscanomaly 3 weeks ago
@unicorn42101 wrong. they dont feel pain. evolutionary they dont need sth like that for their surviving.
plants dont have nerves which connect every part of their body with one big centre (like the brain). this kind of argumentation includes, that you also shouldnt kill bacteriums.....and you will go on doing this, am i right? ;)
15thMD 2 weeks ago
We are in a trap, if we become vegetarian then the vegetables and fruit are farmed in such a poor way they can't provide all the nutrition. I tried the vegetarian diet for years, but i suffered anemia so bad i was forced to return to meat eating. Now i am going back to the vegtarian diet and will take vitamin supplements.
In any case, all this horror we see is the sign there is something seriously wrong with the world, the cruelty we see is the symptom of some hidden problem.

"oh yeah i don't like what the nazis are doing over there in germany, but i'll keep buying nazi-burgers, cuz, yknow, theyre good"
stethoscanomaly 3 weeks ago 2
@simplebonsens We are not omnivores but we are not vegeterians either.
Hydrochloric acid is necessary for the digestion of protein. Proteinous *nuts* require the hydrochloric acid of the stomach to provide an adequate medium for the enzyme pepsin to act on the protein. But true carnivorous (meat eating animals, and 'omnivores' are meat eating as well) have in their digestive tracts a highly concentrated hydrochloric acid, about 1100% more so than ours.
mitsukai89 2 weeks ago
@simplebonsens : not entirely true, we have many features in common with herbivorist, like the lenght of our bowel, our saliva, our teeth, our lack of meat eater instinct....
niko7882 2 weeks ago
@simplebonsens The problem is in the industry, and for me vegetarianism is my way of boycotting these industries. Isn't that what we do with other companies why is this industry different. We are meant to be omnivores and animals were put on this earth so we could use them but that still doesn't give us the right to treat them like this. in my view vegetarianism is the only way out.
aliaavrilhilarykelly 2 weeks ago
@simplebonsens We actually ARE vegetarian by nature. To make it easy for you, here is a funny video which shows facts though. You can search about them individually too. youtube.com/watch?v=MkO-4jZs51E
Do you think humans were eating meat from the start of their existence? Before they could even cook it on fire? They would have dies from toxins and disease if they did. Raw fruit and seeds is our nature. Meat is our nurture.
beemaster667 2 weeks ago
@simplebonsens Actually, you're misinformed. SO WAS I, all 37 years I consumed meat & dairy. The human digestive & intestinal system isn't constructed to digest dairy & meat. In fact, all meat & dairy turns the human body toxic. Animal fats build up inside our arteries, deposit in our brains, and cause a myriad of degenerative diseases, ill health conditions, terminal illnesses, etc.

I feel like at the least the treatment of animals in slaughter houses needs to be better. The way they kill and even raise them is torturous. I don't see how an official could see this kind of treatment and allow these slaughter houses to stay open. I just think at the least there has to be a better way to do it.
missmeandsuch 1 month ago
Something people need to understand is this may be the stereotype, but it is for the mass production industry. I personally don't agree with some of the methods used, but these methods are not used by the small section of the industry. Where I live and work I have never seen these things done. Something else people must understand is that some of the methods used in the video are seldom used, even today.

we're animals and bigger, smarter, or faster carnivores/omivores eat each other all the time. the way a lion eats its prey is even more horrific than this video. are you going to go stop all predators from torturing their prey now? meat is delicious and full of protein. i agree torture and these horrific conditions are unnecessary and should be stopped, but that doesn't mean anyone has to stop eating meat. humans are not herbivores.
ileavecommentshere 2 months ago
@ileavecommentshere how aren't we herbivores? the way the lion kills its prey is just nature, it was made to do that, if we were biologically made to eat meat then why don't we have bigger, sharper teeth? or bigger sharper claws? instead we have flat teeth that are made perfect to chew soft fruits and vegetables, and if you look at our digestive system from a biological stand point it was so much easier to digest fruits and vegetables than it is to digest meat.

BagelTanker 2 months ago
@BagelTanker I think you're missing the point. Other animals don't abuse their prey by growing them in crowded, disease ridden boxes; they don't drive them insane with years of constant abuse and torture; they don't genetically modify them to produce more meat or milk. While I'm well aware of the mounds of evidence suggesting that meat is not good for human diets, I don't think killing an animal and eating it is really terrible, but factory farms are disgusting and inhumane. Find a local farmer.
anthonytw86 2 months ago
@ImaNaab Was it in the nature of those who made this video. Humans are just another species of animals, we need only to change our ways. Anyways you cannot say something like that without wishing doom upon yourself. Overall I am on your side but at the same time I don`t think you have the right solution.
marinebiologist252 2 months ago
@ImaNaab It is absolutely false! There are many societies around the world where when you kill an animal, you should it humanely and stay with it, until it dies comforting it.

It is sad that the treatment of animals for slaughter has been so cruel. I remember reading about a process where synthetic meat is created from DNA of animals generally consumed by people. If that could become something we could find in the grocery store, then I would support it and be able to eat meat without feeling bad about it.
Lastly, I like to believe that not -all- animals raised for slaughter have this same experience.
