  • AUDACITY!!!! Great playing mate

  • i like this keyboard

  • What software do you recommend for recording from the CP300? I'm getting this piano soon and I would like to connect it to my notebook to make records.

  • @R3uven I recommend getting a stand-alone digital recorder like the Tascam DR-07, I've given up on PCs for real-time tasks.

  • Hi!

I'm curious if there is any function or program for learning songs on the CP300, like on the DGX630 since i don't know how to read notes this is really handy and an easy way to do it than by ear,

    Thanks

  • Nice TP! Is it a T60? Great sound, I intend buying a TC Twin Impact ASAP =)

  • @jmac1334 internal speakers sound great, I use them whenever I play

  • @HarvardHeinous : The little fellow sitting on your right speaker will affect the sound quality. ;o)

  • Hi,

Was that the standard/stock sound of your Yamaha CP300? The Grand Piano one sound? Or were you using a virtual instrument also?

    Best Wishes

  • Yeah, it's the stereo GrandPiano1 that's the default when you turn on the Yamaha, no virtual instruments.

  • you don't suck at all; there are all kinds of tightassed critics out there. i have a macbook and am having trouble recording to it from my CP300 and from guitar no matter what interface i used. Cubase, for instance, has been totally worthless.

for me. euther way, you have great hand position. and this is the key to all piano magic.

    play on

    dan

  • oh man you have a nose issue...

    you just can't breathe!

  • yeah, I regretted not doing a better audio edit as soon as I posted this, I suck

  • you connected audio cables, firewire, launched audacity and it all works without telling the source?? And by the way, I have a problem - when I record in cubase via audio cables (with konnekt 8 as well) the recorded piano sound is worse than when listening directly from my yamaha. It concerns piano timbre only, but it's the best. The other instruments sound much better, don't know why, I tried everything :/

  • I bet you're sending MIDI to the CP300 and getting the XG bank 0 program #1 piano sound instead of the stereo GrandPiano1 you really want (p. 105 of the owner's manual).

  • @HarvardHeinous I doubt this is the reason. I have no MIDI cable connection. And as I said other timbres after recording are just the same as they are while listening directly from yamaha. So it's not the problem of some other bank being used I think... And BTW it's not CP300. Thanks for answering, anyway ;)

  • Hi :) I am thinking of buying CP300, but I don't really know if I need such big and compicated instrument. I will use the piano only for my own enjoyment and school missions. Could really need some help chosing keyboard! I've decided to buy a Yamaha. Thank you :)

  • The CP300 really does weigh a lot. Get a less heavy model. : ) The CP300 has nice speakers, though.

  • @Hetahl : Compared to some of the workstations on the market the CP-300 is fairly simple in comparison.

  • hi, thanks for sharing this video. may i ask you what kind of system are you running your the konnekt on? i'm having problems with mine and looking by specs, my computer should be more than able to handle it without sound dropouts...

    thanks

  • the ThinkPad in the video is a T42p, 4 years old, Pentium M, 2GHz... running Windows XP... and to be honest I have no idea why today's new computers suck so much (remembering that I was capturing and editing CD-quality audio back in the early 90s on a '486 machine running Windows 3.1... so today audio should be a non-issue but it isn't)... my suggestion to you: increase your buffer sizes to the max (costs you latency, but should clear up the dropouts)... or get a Mac : P

  • thanks, didn't really help but the cause is appreciated :)

  • You know.. I love that song. After watchin' this Demo, I would have never thought you would use "Off to see the world" and "Girls of Rock & Rule" by Alvin & the Chimpmunks Nice...

  • i also believe you're hearing a deviated septum

    ;)

  • i may sell S90es.. get the xs rack and the fold in two controller from INFINITE RESPONSE VAX77

  • how does the CP300 compare to yammy S90es

  • the CP300 is heavier ; P

darn you, now I want an S90ES!!

  • Yamaha s90ES or s90xs (motif xs) is alot better then CP300, and i mean alot!

  • @haakondale that doesn't make any sense

  • @tflynn17 I ment the piano sound.

  • @haakondale ah. well i haven't heard the s90xs but i believe it. i would not put the s90es or the motif xs ahead of the CP300 in terms of piano sound though

  • I do agree, the CP300's piano sound does sound very nice.

  • hi men....nice vid.

I have the same interface....I just wanted to know }.

    -whats a firmware??

ans why you have to update it???

-can I record the piano without the midi and just with the stereo cable??

    bye....

can I record the piano without the midi and just with the stereo cable??

  • Did you run the sound back into your CP300 built in speakers or did you use amps?

  • What you're *hearing* in this video is the line out audio from the CP300 as recorded with Audacity.

  • Why did you use audacity to record? I got an ableton live licence with my konnekt 8 unit, and I believe that cubase LE is shiped with the unit nowdays. They are just way bether if you use ASIO4All or something like that

  • Just needed to get the stream of bytes coming from the audio interface written to a file on the hard drive... and Audacity was already there. Yes, Cubase AI 4 came with the CP300 but I haven't tried it yet, not sure what it can do for me. What is ASIO4All for? (what problem does it solve?)

  • ASIO is a lowlatency audio driver. If you start using Cubase you will notice that you have to use cuite a large buffersize to get crackle free recordings. In Ableton Live Lite 6 I had load off crackles even at 4ksamples, but with ASIO4ALL I only need 400 samples to get crackle free recordings:D ASIO4ALL is a free ASIO driver

  • Nice, well rounded demo from the techie side of things, which I like. Thanks!

  • ok, very technical, used my yamaha cp more in a purism way (on stage), but you got it ! (you have talent)

  • Excellent, My friend! Outstanding work - both your playing and the detailed instructions! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your exciting experience with the CP300. If there is some way for us to exchange emails, let me know; I'm still fumbling around on computers. Thanks again. my friend; you just made my day!

This was also sent as a PM. Let me know which you prefer.

  • What do you think about Konnekt 8 btw? I'm considering buying it in a setup similar to yours. I'm hesitating between konnekt 8 and tascam us-144. One benefit of us-144 over konnekt 8 I guess is it is usb-powered not sure I should mind that a lot though

  • The US-144 is also a fine choice. I went with the k8 simply because I wanted a Firewire interface. The only downside so far has been the lack of a Vista 64-bit driver (they're working on it, they say).

  • I somewhat also prefer fireware to usb for that kind of task but w/o a good reason. Maybe you do have a good reason for the choice? I mean fireware -vs- usb 2.0. I run Mac, so drivers should not be an issue. Thanks!

  • Firewire is better designed for continuously streaming data, but it really doesn't matter in any practical sense for an audio interface. I chose Firewire because I'm constantly plugging all sorts of things into my USB ports and I wanted a more stable bus for my audio interface.

  • awesome :)

  • thanks!

  • By the way, why didn't you use the built-in USB port? Is it of a low quality?

  • because USB isn't as stable and reliable (inherently), so if one has a quality MIDI interface (like the konnekt 8), one should use it IMHO

  • That's great.

  • thx!

  • Where did you get the Jeanette doll? I'm guessing ebay.

  • Correct. That's where I got Brittany and Eleanor too. XD

  • Nice. I like all that equipment you used to remix those songs.
