P.S......George Michael , Boy George, Michael Stipe, Ricky Martin, Adam Lambert, Melissa Etheridge,( blah - blah -blah). I didn't say that Gaga and Perry were gay I referenced what they have done on a broader sense....(read that slow or your head will hurt son!) Dude...be cool. I am curiuous...If "nobody's kicking ass in the music industry".....Why don't you....assuming you can sing, have charisma, a good attitude, an amazing work ethic and....YOU don't suck?!
Like I said...you're a kid. With a limited scope of genres, styles , eras etc...
It's easy for you to cast a broad net across the entire music scene and say that nothing is good enough for you. Now back it up with the incite, wisdom and experience of an adult that has followed some groups for 40+ years and seen things actually cycle back into style. Follow the few acts that are deemed passable by you and slam everything...(everything) else. Doesn't sound like the most mature approach does it?!
Careful there Purple...You're way too close to diapers to be weighing in on this! When i want to know what the children think about I'll visit the Sesame Street site. To you(everyone) sucks because at your age EVERYTHING sucks. Get back to us w/ a credible critique that requires less of your bad attitude and more of an intelligent insight! Kids!...(some) can be so childish!
Uh what? Dude, music in this time sucks. And I'm 23, not a kid buddy. I'm just stating the facts, plus, half of the singers you listed as gay aren't even gay.
@ThePurpleEnchilada 23??? That's still very much a kid. It's not bad......enjoy it. It goes away waaaaay too soon. Once it's gone, it doesn't return, so don't be in too much of a hurry to shed it.
The gays are STILL kicking ass in music in 2011!!!!! They've learned from the plight of George Michael and Boy George....the music industry and it's promoters are homophobic number crunchers that want sales# numbers over personal statements. Gaga is making it "vogue" to accept yourself and Katy Perry kissed a girl. The men in music are touring and keeping their sex life secondary to their music (Michael Stipe Ricky Martin, Adam Lambert) Keep an eye on Adam..I predict a HUGE album from him!
Gaga sucks and so does Katy Perry. Plus, Gaga's bi and Katy's straight, so they're not gay. Adam Lambert is slightly better, but still sucks. Face it, nobody's kicking ass in the music industry nowadays since most music is autotuned computer shit anyways.
@ThePurpleEnchilada - I think it's so great that someone your age appreciates the music of a prior generation. I know I LOVE lots of 50's stuff and I wasn't born until the 60's. But even at age 50 there's some 'new' music I'm really into. I agree the stuff played on the radio is pretty dismal but not always. I LOVE certain types of house (Mark Farina good example). So that's all MisterJokerToker is saying...every generation has it's good and bad. We were lucky that we had SO MUCH good :)
everything from the 70's through 99 was just, real, heart felt, moving, inspirational, music.....music today is a shame i wish i could destroy every artist out there
@slaphaddalztick For sure! When I start listening to 80's music I get lost in time and end up listening all fucking night long and gotta go to work on 2 hours sleep. I miss 80's music style so bad!
If you are too young to remember the 80's, this song will give you a pretty good idea of what a fucking brilliant decade it was, if not, smile with me!
I've listened to 80s music before I started wearing panties. The 80s and 90s had really good music. I was born in the late 90s, so I heard songs from Snoop Dogg, Wham!, Eminem, Stevie Wonder, and others when my mom would listen to them in the car while I was sitting in the back, in a kiddy seat. To this day, I still love hearing them.
i'm 19 years old. i listened to this for the first time ever like 2 months ago when i was high as shit. i mean seriously baked out of my mind. found it on music choice on xfinity. i think it's the best song ever made. i love the 80s
@twoofheartsxxx Who in the fuck are you telling to STFU because I spoke my mind and told the truth if they did I would boycott FOX I have a right to speak my mind don't be mad at me for exercising my right to use free speech
@MrHandsallover Nothing Somepeople just have a hate for anything and i mean anything different so u just hold youre head up high look down to them and keep you life going because we only have one life to live so its better to live without hate
@judahlady: was also six yrs old when this came out.....I remember my kindergarten graduation & this song during that time.......where does the time go? lol
Is it just me, but I know a few years ago I heard Marvin's When did you stop Loving, When did I Stop Loving you and it conjured up WHAM! I wonder if his song inspired their hit?
Gay, Straight, who cares? George Michael is AWSOMEEEE!!!! Do not even mention his name in the same sentence with any of these talentless $#@!s of the last 15 (that's right) fifteen years!!!
This was issued on a double A-side along with Last Christmas. It didn't get to number one in the UK because of Band Aid but it did break the sales record for a song NOT to get to number one. Its easy to see why: Wham already had a huge fanbase of teenagers but this tune appealed more to the slightly older youngster of working age with its lyrics.
@mkattn What a great song. It's hard to believe these are the same guys that did "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go". Ugh!
you crack me UP! Love it! I'm a huge Wham/George fan, seen him several times, and I agree. Nothing against that extremely bubble gum pop song Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (which he quit doing live a LONG time ago), but this song is a CLASSIC, along with Careless Whisper, Faith, Freedom, Praying for Time, Fastlove & Jesus to a Child.
have to hand it to george michael and wham. this is the best eighties pop track . not even green garthside or paddy mc aloon could do better. simple perfect pop
Dudes, what is up with all the gay dudes and their awesome music. I mean COME ON! Wham, George Michael's solo career, Dead or Alive, Pet Shop Boys, Culture Club...man, The Gays kicked ASS in the 80's!
I was born 1978 this is the music my parents listened to if you don't like this funky shit you can kiss my ass. I don't care if their gay that has nothing to do with me. LOL!

IT'S TOTAL CLASS! I never took much notice of Wham, I've loved George as a solo artist for over 20 years but Wham passed me by, I was into soul and funk back then and I thought he was a bit of a pretender if I'm honest but he is so awesome, I just didn't realise it until about 1990 when he dropped Listen Without Prejudice which is my favourite album of his to this day.
Never knew much about Wham, being born in the early '90s. Delicious pop music, not like what we have today... which is mostly just repetitive computer-generated autotune.
LIfe seemed easier during the 80's. Less hatred. I was not keen on some political issues but it was no big deal because no one was out to do harm to others so much as now.
@BhaktaAllisonTucker ---you're right, Bhakta. I miss the 80s and even some of the 90s culture. Top 40 was so catchy and chill back then. Pop, Hard Rock, Soft Rock, New Wave, Dance, R&B, Soul. It was all good and there was something for everyone. Now, its just nastiness, diva droning, and teenybopper nonsense. Poor kids today don't understand harmonies or keeping things subtle and smut-free. So happy to have grown up in the 70s and 80s.Only song I like from 2000s? "The Scientist" by Coldplay.
@DestroyerofSouls666 I so agree. The music today does "inhale with great force". It is about who can be the biggest pain or diva and act the most outrageously. The teenybopper nonsense was not even around back in the 80's. Sure, we had Debbie Gibson but she was actually pretty good and did not turn into a trainwreck like Britney Spears. People were kinder back then.
OMG Andrew is sooooo hot!
