Secondly, if it is the case that communist governments sincerely believe that the community should own the above, then it does not appear to be happening. Rather, the government tries to "manage" the important (without corruption), and things deemed not so important are privately owned but are not owned or serve the community.

@metalkommunisten yes i have to agree a hospital would be useful even if it doesnt make money, but then it will need resources from other people, like taxpayers, so it still needs money. Most of the time a corporation bankrupts because it does not satisfy what people wants, take on large risks, is inefficient, or due to bad public image because of some bad things it did. I dont think everything publicly run does give everyone enough food.

There were lots of 5 year plans, but the thin chance of communism's success was crushed by Stalin's brutal paranoia. Had the original Soviet revolution by the Kronstadt soldiers (Feb. 1917) had a chance to take root instead of the Bolsheviks' ideology/revenge driven one, Russia may have been a model for the world. @4500jas Yep. Communism is in some ways the ultimate democracy. The missing ingredient though was that people must authentically care about each other in order for it to work. The brutal oppression in much of the Soviet era was antithetical to the goal/intent of communism...it became more like fascism in some ways. I think the Kronstadt Soviet model (small, local, leaderless governing councils) is more tenable than Marxism, which would surely be subject to corruption and abuse, IMO.

Marx didn't want to work because he was against all that capitalist bullshit but he was ok to accept financial support from Engels more than 20 years. Engels in the other hand received his money from Cotton Mills owned by his family. they both lived off the workers. the money he used to send to Marx was from the profits of the factory.

Secondly, if it is the case that communist governments sincerely believe that the community should own the above, then it does not appear to be happening. Rather, the government tries to "manage" the important (without corruption), and things deemed not so important are privately owned but are not owned or serve the community.

Most of the time a corporation bankrupts because it does not satisfy what people wants, take on large risks, is inefficient, or due to bad public image because of some bad things it did. I dont think everything publicly run does give everyone enough food.

I live in Australia mate. The banking sector here is much more regulated than the US to prevent the severity of a downturn. This is a sort of kind of true video, but it leaves out alot of problems that both China and Russia face and makes them look like utopias, and if you ask alot of the people who live in those countries if it is utopia like, then they will say no. Wether or not you belive in communism is one thing, but this was obvioulsy a bias video which simply made it look good, when they shoul've listed the true history including the pros ans cons of communism.

Thats why communism didn't work in Russia even though the civilians believed in it. Marx's ideas were everybody working equally toward a common goal not everybody working equally for a common person

There were lots of 5 year plans, but the thin chance of communism's success was crushed by Stalin's brutal paranoia. Had the original Soviet revolution by the Kronstadt soldiers (Feb. 1917) had a chance to take root instead of the Bolsheviks' ideology/revenge driven one, Russia may have been a model for the world. I don't even advocate communism as a practical model...but I do think we can drop the hyperbolic stuff and discuss topics from a "realistic" standpoint. Also, I'd argue that our form of capitalism is tantamount to state control of everything because corporations' rights always come before individuals' rights in our laws.

@4500jas Yep. Communism is in some ways the ultimate democracy. The missing ingredient though was that people must authentically care about each other in order for it to work. The brutal oppression in much of the Soviet era was antithetical to the goal/intent of communism...it became more like fascism in some ways. I think the Kronstadt Soviet model (small, local, leaderless governing councils) is more tenable than Marxism, which would surely be subject to corruption and abuse, IMO.
