  • i got a v8 rx7 if i had 18 psi i would have around 900 crank hp and 730 rwhp

    apples and oranges. assuming its a LS block u have a minimum of 5.7L displacement, compared to 2L. on a good tune a 20B (3 rotor) will see 700whp at 18psi. Unfortunately the rotary has received a bad rap because increase boost without proper tuning to back it. yes they are a bit more delicate, but its worth it.

    if you turbo it. so you havent and then its speculation, im sure its semi accurate b/c i know a guy wuth a TTLS1 FD and it makes 602whp at 9psi. if you read what i said there was nothing negative, i just said that you can make very similar power out of a 20B.

    i have seen turbo v8s and turbo 20Bs and they can make very similar numbers. the point of my post was that those numbers can and have been done on a 20B with similar boost.

  • @VulcanAutoworx well its not speculation when i go to the f-150 lightning forums which the engine is a 351w same gen of motor as mine cause mine came outta a 95 f-150 lightning people getting 600-650 rwhp thats with 25% drivetrain loss since its a auto tranny with a manual tranny ill be in 700's of rwhp like 730ish so its not just speculation its really researched

    like i said its probably accurate, my whole point is that 20Bs are capable of very similar numbers at similar levels of boost. so your initial point of "why not swap a turbo V8? b/c it can make X hundred hp with Y psi" the answer is b/c a 20B is also capable of similar numbers and you keep the rx a rotary. throw a large displacement V8 in any car and its a muscle car. and yes i feel the vette is more of a muscle car than sports car b/c of the v8. 6.2L v10-12 would be more fiting.

    ok? and? so do you want to be like 90%+ of America (not counting non-performance oriented vehicles) or stick out? search a video of a 20B that revs high. a 20B at 9000 rpm is awesome. imo way better than any V8, its more in the realm of how v12 sounds

  • @VulcanAutoworx i understand where your coming from... but my opinion is biased towards v8 because i like the sound of them and theres no other engine out there in the world making 8,000+hp just v8 top fuel dragster makes around 8-10,000 hp im sure alot of engines could do it with the engineering but whos spending 1 million+ dollars on their engines... I DONT SEE ANYONE DOING THAT

  • @VulcanAutoworx in no way am I choosing sides or anything but even if the 20b could reach similar hp figures of a v8 it wouldnt come close in terms of torque hahaha thats what v8s are known for.

  • @burritomaker69 i know a guy makin 649whp, and 487lb/ft, thats keeping the factory luxuries like ac. those hp numbers are better than you would see out of a LS7 with cams, and tune. and close to what you would get out of it tq wise. you might get a bit better tq out of a LS7 but were not talking leaps and bounds like everyone acts like it is.

    i dont care to much when people bash on rotaries, im an adult and can take it. what i do hate is when people make uninformed claims that are inaccurate.

  • @burritomaker69 thats what v8's are known for? no, the term V8 simply describes an engine layout, and its nothing special, tell me why they have 10 - 12L inline 6 turbo diesels in big trucks? or even the cummins diesel, among others..... in my view, inline 6's are better known for torque for their relative size, and v8's are known only to those ignorant enough to not know how an engine runs and run their mouth about what rubbish they hear from other ignorant douches blabing about "v8 muscle" bs

  • @enigmaPL I in no way support american muscle. Im just saying in most sports cars that follow the trend of high torque in the low rpms they tend to lean towards a v8 engine layout........because they find they can achieve moderate levels of torque in the low rpms.......

  • Ive got a 92 fd right now and hope to do a all Aluminum 3rotor from a specailist near where I live ( he made the first 3 rotor all aluminum in the world, best Apex seals also), My fave car in the whole world and will own for the rest of my days..RX7KID for life!!

  • I personally am in love with this car. Amemiya comes up with the sickest shit, and this is a pristine example of that. i mean a three rotor with a T-88 & Vmount intercooler this would be such a beast on the track. Regardless of Circuit / Drag.

  • WOW :-O Nice car. I use to own a 1993 RX-7 R1. I really miss that car. In 1998, I ran it up to 175mph on I-25 between Pueble and Trinidad and I still had 1,500 rpm left to go in fifth gear. I'm lucky I didn't get caught. I would have gone to jail for sure. Sold it in 2000 before I went to Germany for a 3 year tour. I regret doing that as I could have really ran it hard on the German Autobahns :(

  • @kdoeone i must say i don't know much about engines at all.. i think the spark plugs measure the mixture of air and fuel or something? not sure really. still i wouldn't mind having 3rotor 20B Mazda Rx7 running at least 1.2bar pressure, and a custom exhaust... Ok i lied i know a little bit about engines.. I would give a certain left article to own a Rx7 like that but for the time being I'll just play around with the 13BT VW Beetle that I have.

  • 13b doesnt weight 425lbs, bare block 13b weight less than 200lbs and with all aluminium side housings its only 110lbs.engine itself is very light but intake,turbos,IC piping is heavy.20b itself also isnt that heavy its around 330lbs.Yes, 20b is longer than ls1 but almost in every swap,engine is put further backwards.You can keep perfect balance and yes,you can do it also with LS series.Please dont hate other motors, there are many engines that are MUCH heavier and less powerful than LS series:)

  • yes, sounds is similar because firing pattern is same. BUT i highly doubt you heard all aluminium ls1s push that power...cast iron thats another story and another weight.

  • well the aluminum ls1 weighs roughly 400 pounds, while the iron ls is about 480-500 ish

    while even a 13b weighs about 425.... so i would assume a 20 would weigh at least 600+

    not so much of a weight difference there ....

    and not only is a 20b heavier then a ls1, its also longer and causes a huge weight shift in an rx7, ruining the handling.
