With due respect, I must say - especially to one calling themself 'the critic' - you mustn't be hardcore JRNY/SP fans if you're unable to determine this IS Perry. You mustn't be very discriminating listeners if unable to differentiate Perry from others.

My understanding is this clip is from a Houston Journey tour in 2007. Perry left Journey 20 years ago in 1987 and hasn't been back. This is not him. Besides, if you listen to the voice, it's clearly not him. Compare it to other songs back in his hey-day. Even if you account for his age, you'll find he never articulated words in this way. Perhaps this is from the Journey Tribute Tour which had sound-a-likes... sort of.

Erm yes it is 83, and it is NOT Arnel singing, as this is off Greatest Hits Live which was released in 1998, long before Pineda came on the scene.

They never played Houston on the Frontiers tour, which is where this recording is taken from as it's from Greatest Hits Live. The only date in Texas is in Dallas on 8th July 1983.

It may well of been Dallas, but there is no recording of that show that I am aware of and without another audio source to compare it to it's hard to tell. They did Houston on the Departure tour in 1980 and on the Escape tour in 1981. I'll ask around and see if anyone can shed any light on it.
