I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps fuel inj. and tank clean and rustfree
what ignition setup are you using? your idle sounds great! I have an 80B with original ZS carb and Lucas Distributor and can't get it to idle smoothly.
ignorant moron how old are you? No clue that the MGB is still the most loved car EVER made huh? Bet you have a riced-out piece of Jap tinfoil ... wheres that turd gonna be in 40 years??
Yeah, you're not going to get the smokeshow from crankcase/fuel. To get the fun, you need to go through the brake booster or PCV line. With the engine warm, slowly suck up about 1/3 of a bottle from a bowl, not letting the engine die. After the 1/3, dunk the hose in to make it kill the engine (It'll suck up a little extra then die). Wait 15 minutes and try to start it (it won't want to). Film, post to YouTube, enjoy.
Take the air filter off and slowly pour 1/3 the can down the carburetor while the engine is idling. If you didn't stall the engine in the process, turn off the engine.
Go eat lunch or watch TV for 15 mins then start it again. It will smoke for several mins.
They say the best way to clean out carbon deposits is to hydro lock your engine via a vacuum line into the intake or something after the car is warm. Wait 15 min and start it back up. your car will smoke for the next 15 min :) Ive done it and my car revs better.
hydrolock????? WTF? better ran the car into the nearest river...
I think you mean spray water into the intake but not hydrolocking. Either way as accordv6er says seafoam is safer, and is the best way to make your neighbourhood disapear too
Damn what a shitbox!

what is the point of this?

it only smokes when you put the seafoam in the carburetor or throttle body(vacume line).

A 63 doesn't have a PCV or probably power brakes. For a true smokescreen, do a Marvel Mystery Oil piston soak.

Eh, brake booster thing isn't true in this case. Pour the Seafoam into the carburetor.. The brake booster method is only for Fuel Injected cars.

it won't rev that great after you bend a few connecting rods in it

Very strange, just that one puff after you started working the throttle. She sounds good.
