@fg458h Why so critical? Just because they are in an "advanced class" doesn't mean that they should all be on the same level as Zakir Hussain... While foreigners may not learn classical Indian music in the same way as someone immersed in the culture might, they can still experiment and master the instrument in there own way... allowing a continuous evolution of the art in a variety of different directions... I think music is more about personal expression than conforming to a culture...

Khansahib's classes had all levels together in some of the instrumental sessions. He did it for more than 40 years in Calif... 7 days a week.  Incredible knowledge, devotion to music and love for his studetns.

He was a true Master and Teacher.
