Far Cry 2 Dunia Engine - Tree Regeneration HQ

I bought FC2 a few weeks ago only to watch the Dunia engine...bur it sucked big time; the environment was amost dark/colorless and I couldn't destroy the TREES -lol-...after playing Crysis Warhead I also bought recently Dunia or just FC2 sucks really hard...now I wait for Crysis2.

i dont mean to be a bastard but look at the grass in the bottom left corner at 0:22 to 0:25

the grass suddenly moves without the animation so it was stoped in game speed went up and recorded again mixed them up with a transition.

@mythologykid um...one that wasnt grass that was the branches that got shot off, 2 yea it was sped up a bit but it really does that in game, so rather then making us watch a video at real time thats 15 minutes long for it to grow back they sped it up so we would only waste 45 seconds of our life

@thrasha666 Actually tree regeneration and same with grass wasnt actually in the final game, it was like removed or something. In the final game it respawns after a certain amount of time. They removed a few other things too.

notice the way that at 0:23 - 0:25 the bushes at the bottom of the screen just a bit on the left all disappear, showing the vegetation cycle as seasons go on, pretty cool.

As for the gun shooting the branches off, it's a tech demo, they could of used a dart gun if they wanted to, or could of simply just had the branches fall off themselves.

I thought it was cool they showed a gun.

well the bad thing is the idea to make it regenerate after a very short periode of time (like 10 seconds after shooting it). it would be more realistic if it took like a real life hour to have it regenerate.

yes they would.. first of a regular pistol can almost do that (like a glock) if you have ever agtually fired at a tree.. second its a deagle one of the strongests pistols made.

It wasn't the fact that they were coming off that I was arguing off. In fact, I thought it looked very realistic when the branches simply fell off, but when the huge ones spin around and around like a propellar when they are shot off it just looks stupid. No matter how powerful the pistol, branches would'nt spin around that quickly and that smoothly, far to much drag and air-resistance because of all the leaves.

because your going to shoot up trees at a base then a few hours later its been almost two weeks and you go back to the camp and some has grown back not to mention this isnt gonna be like halo where you can finish in one night. this is going to be a very very long game

Exactly, It's a "Tech Demo" means it is showing the technology of the Dunia engine. So if you have for example burned down some grass, then when you leave the area it will slowly regenerate, would be kinda booring if you burned down all the trees in, lets say the main town. Then it would booring the rest of the game, if there was no vegetation ;)
