  • JUST MISSED!!! "Ivory Tower" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 21 weeks in the Top 100 in 1956. There were two other versions in 1956 that charted higher than The Charms version; Cathy Carr's version peaked at No. 2 {for 2 weeks} and Gale Storm reached No. 6 with her version. My opinion; The Charms the best!!!

  • I didn't know this song but so nice!

  • This hit by Otis Williams and The Charms hit #11 on the Top 40 charts and #5 on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It would finish at #64 for the year, 1956.

  • well folks, here's some history. I believe this song was written by (Bob) Wright and (Chet)Forrest for the broadway show Kismet.

  • I still play this song frequently. It was definitely the best version of "Ivory Tower". I've burned all my old favorites on CDs to listen to in my car.

  • Love it. My boyfriend dedicated it to me on the radio when I was 13 yrs old. I wonder where he is now? Edward Bolton, are you out there somewhere? Those were the best yrs. anybody could have been fortunate enough to grow up in. Sweet memories. :)

  • Otis Williams and His Charms (not The Charms) were arguably the finest Doo-Wop group to come out of Cincinnati. But Cincy is also famous for having given us the all-time classic group "TheStudents" Ivory Tower is a great song. But buy Otis Williams and His Charms "Greatest" CD and get ready to enjoy some great Doo-Wop, including one of my all-time favorites, Two Hearts, Two Kisses

  • DIdnt Brian Wilson sing this with his brothers when they were younger before they became the Beach Boys?

  • @smiley66goodvibes67 That's what Brian said last night on Nightline. Sang it in his bedroom.

  • This was the first 45 I bought. I only had 78 record player but I was nearing demob and would be getting one soon. This was in the autumn of 1956.

  • Definitely not the same Otis Williams that's with the temptations

  • As muchas I enjoyed Cathy Carr & even Gale Storm's version of this song,I must confess that this version by Otis Willians & his Charms is the best there is,hands down.Glad you posted this!

  • My mother used to sing this to me as a lullaby, when I was a baby! Cathy Carr and Gale Storm recorded nice versions of this song but, BROTH-ERRRR! Otis Williams & the boys recorded THE version of this! My all time favorite version! No one else could put it over as did they!
