It is the musical setting OF the poetry cycle.Whatever their living arrangements..I really dont see what that bit of useless information has to do with it. And of course she was 'in full knowledge and assent' ( so pompous) as she originally performed the piece herself with a megaphone in a bath chair underneath a mosquito net. Why is it always people like you with a little knowledge who want to try and put everyone else down. You laughably call yourself a maestro. How puffed up can you get. lol

I think it's far more than an entertainment 'with' poems by Edith Sitwell..how rude.

Her words set the tone of this fabulous piece...and were as important if not MORE important part than the music.

@MoscowMaestro take a look at Edith Sitwell Facade on Wikipedia...I think it knows a 'lot' more than you ( why they inverted commas? is that a Russian thing?) the poems came FIRST in 1918 and the music an added accompaniment by Walton in 1922 so get your facts straight.

@tyjeffries This is the musical setting here - not the poetry cycle. In any case many of Sitwell's poems were omitted from the musical cycle. Since Walton was her protege, and living in her house (!) one can assume she was in full knowledge and assent. Got any other hot air you'd like to add?
