This is pure genius! I have been shopping mounts and stumbled upon your video. This is exactly what I will use! My addition will be to line the areas that make contact with my tablet with a thin rubber bushing material applied with 3M two-faced tape to increase the prevention of slippage. Thank you very much for the GREAT idea!
nice "out of the box" creative thinking. Might steal this for a project with my Explorer. Has to be a way to fasten or lock the tab into the mount. Velcro tabs, straps,...something. may be fine driving around but wait til someone t-bones you and your Xoom truly goes zoom upside your head. You don't want a Xoom implant..... well, at least not that way.
If you would have got an iPad you could have just got one of many mounts for your car...........you got a Xoom?!...........why?........... At least your creative lol good video
Loose the paperclip, extend the part that the paperclip attaches to about and inch or so, mark two holes for the headrest "pins" to slide through, drill holes, hold mount in place and slide headrest pins through holes and into the seat. Any general hardware store will drill something like that for you. Another tip, when your finished you can spray the mount with "plasti dip", its the stuff that plier hands are made of, a rubbery material. I made something similar but out of scrap metal. good job
You just gave me an idea for my tablet. I want to mount in on the dash without cutting the dash up. i chose the dash because with it just sitting there, it has no purpose. I want it to play music, videos, the whole nine yards and the dash would be a better spot for all of that.
looks nice but w word of caution. Do not install on the sunroof. If ever you get into an accident, that think will fly right off and hurt someone or even in small fender bender can smash your windshield
looks solid on the headrest but again imagine a kid sitting right behind that thing in an accident
I was looking for a DIY solution for an upcoming road trip, and for $3 this is a winner! I don't have a case for my tablet, so I'll have to figure out a way to ensure there's no slippage, but this is great, thanks!
it is actually very firm and solid, with the gel case i have, this thing didnt move a mil... i test drove it in bumpy roads and everything,,,the mount actually hugs the tablet very good... it actually works so great you would think they only made that metal bookend for this purpose.
Great idea thanks for sharing

What shop tool did you use to bend the metal so accurately?
