No thats not right. The ONLY other first generation Camaro that had stripes down the hood and trunk from the factory were the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Replicas The stripes on a Z/28 were not optional either. And this doesn't appear to be an SS car.
The stripes only came on Z/28s. And no, the Z/28 for the first generation camaros came with a 302 ci block, thats it, nothing else. The stripes on your dads camaro were probably added to it when it was re painted or else it was originally a Z/28 car. Like i said the ONLY way you could get body stripes like you see in this video from the factory was with the Z/28 option.
my dad built a 1969 camaro.....its not an RS or SS but its got a 350 small block and man it rumbles im telling you what..its red with black racing stripes
You can't look up a vin number on a car made before 1981 unless it has 17 digits, that is the problem i was having trying to get a history report on a 69 RS/SS Camaro
You should take this video down unless it isn't your car. Showing your license plate and VIN number on the internet is not smart. Someone can now carfax or title search your vehicle and come steal it. Smarten up, and learn how to put down some real rubber.
i love how the rs came with hidden headlights:)

KillerKyle94 1 year ago
@KillerKyle94 - actually dumbass, I do own one. Go on believing this car will get $50k. When you are old enough to drive you will figure it out.
xramcam 1 year ago
@xramcam i am old enough to drive hav been for almost a year now god and they say older you are the smarter get a life
KillerKyle94 1 year ago
@1swede1 i'd have to agree with you. 25-30k. unless the car was a z/28 numbers matching, you be easily getting 50k for it.
Chasep25 1 year ago
That's not true. You could special order anything you wanted to back in 69. if you wanted a RS camaro with the z/28 stripes you got it.

its a nice car but not the original color for that vin plate, and the valve covers are on the wrong sides of the engine. nice car though
kashmcoll 2 years ago
The stripes aren't original either, you could only get stripes with the Z/28 package. But still a nice car.

they came with the ss they were a option on the Z/28

so the 69 rs/ss is basically a rs with the z/28 option? because my dad had a 69 rs/ss yellow with black stripes with a 350.

WOW, I'm not a big fan of hidden front lights but those are kick ass, is that how they opened stock? I may change my mind!!
agent805 3 years ago
The motorized opening is pretty cool, but when they're still on they look kinda weird, the 1968 version has a better meaner hidden look ;)

grgl89 4 years ago
The paint code 59/59 is Fathom Green and the interion 723 was a Midnight Geen color.
The car is red with a white interior.
Must have been during the restoration.

59/59 is Frost green. The same color that mine was. Mine is also an 11C (3rd week Nov68) build, but an LA car.
