I dont believe that goku has that problem, however. When he was talking to frieza, he could sense his power level. To me, it looks like he was trying to play mind games.

He points out to nappa that the saibamen had the same power level as raditz and yet they had mostly defeated them with little problem. The point is that until Vegeta sees someone fight, he generally assumes he is stronger than them. In regards to kaio-ken, he had no reason to believe that there was more than one stage.

I believe that Goku underestimated kid buu for the same reason so many people do. At which point, Vegeta and Goku had gotten serious. Better late than never :)

@ImmaDBZvillain Dabura states kaioshin ki can't be used to revive boo. But they can use the other 5. Potara earrings were shown to make them immediately separate inside boo. And the candy beam allowed the potara to regain it's strength and awareness. (potara is a tool explicitly stated to be created by the kaioshins so kaioshin energy is intact when they are fused because of the earrings).

@kakashiUzamaki Ah you have access to the manga this makes things alot easier you'll notice in later panels that Vegeta still has the upper hand at this point. What had gotten smaller was the apparent increase in chi from absorbing an android (Vegeta knew bug cells power roughly from the fight with piccolo). Vegeta mocked kid buu for the same reason he mocked perfect cell in DB 385 (DBZ 191) pg 2.2 not that he was stronger but that he beleived he would win regardless.

@PrinceofSaiyajins456 I agree that vegeta often mis judges strength based on size, like you said he severely underestimated kid buu based on his size, however in the case of frieza vegeta knew he was strong, i think it was more along the lines of him overestimating himself by thinking he was a super saiyan at that point. I dont believe that goku has that problem, however. When he was talking to frieza, he could sense his power level. To me, it looks like he was trying to play mind games.

He "overestimated" Gokus kaio ken. His problem is hes arrogant he fully beleived that x2 was the most goku could do and never considered he could push more. He never assumed freizas transformation would be so drastically different, and he never assumed goku would be so imperfeccted with ss3

@hanon623 actually after he planted the saibamen, he was surprised and somewhat annoyed. He points out to nappa that the saibamen had the same power level as raditz and yet they had mostly defeated them with little problem. The point is that until Vegeta sees someone fight, he generally assumes he is stronger than them. In regards to kaio-ken, he had no reason to believe that there was more than one stage.

I believe that Goku underestimated kid buu for the same reason so many people do. That is, he thought after taking out so many of the people buu had absorbed he would be far weaker, even though multiple kicks to the teeth later point out that this may not be entirely true. At which point, Vegeta and Goku had gotten serious. Better late than never :)

This fight was a massive handicap against kid buu...Not only were countless of people against him but also 2 strong super saiyans, and when Buu easily deflected the spirit bomb, goku has all its energy back...lol and something that IM STILL WONDERING is if buu is desintegrated completely he can turn into gas and then became solid again, why he did not do that when the spirt bomb desintegrated him? ...

@ImmaDBZvillain Dabura states kaioshin ki can't be used to revive boo. But they can use the other 5. Potara earrings were shown to make them immediately separate inside boo. And the candy beam allowed the potara to regain it's strength and awareness. (potara is a tool explicitly stated to be created by the kaioshins so kaioshin energy is intact when they are fused because of the earrings).

The kais restrict boo's power which doesn't allow him to bring out the power he had as kid boo. Dabura states kaioshin ki can't be used to revive boo. But they can use the other 5 warriors hiding

@ImmaDBZvillan Just want to say that the manga and the anime both say that buu's power was increasing (when good buu was ripped out). The only power source now is kid buu. The kai's also show more fear towards kid buu than super buu. Also Vegeta makes fun of kid buu's side, not his ki.

Vegeta was genuinely worried because buus power was increasing, next chapter he remarks he's still changing it's at this point that the power level goes down and when it reaches kid buu level it's significantly weaker so he laughs not even krillin was stupid enough to laugh about a foes size if they had serious chi. Prince, I'm not 100% sure Goku is weaker only that kid is invulnerable

Goku even mocked it by saying freeza is smaller than he expected. When Cell showed his final form Vegeta laughed at him. And now Kid Buu appears and they laugh at him. Herms who translated the manga makes a specific note saying that they were making fun of size and not ki. Those are facts

Vegeta was not mocking cells size but his chi which despite his boasting was still not as strong as his. I'm not familiar with Herms but it makes little sense for Vegeta to be laughing at someones size since he really isnt that much taller, he was referring to kid buu being weaker than expected.

@kakashiUzamaki Ah you have access to the manga this makes things alot easier you'll notice in later panels that Vegeta still has the upper hand at this point. What had gotten smaller was the apparent increase in chi from absorbing an android (Vegeta knew bug cells power roughly from the fight with piccolo). Vegeta mocked kid buu for the same reason he mocked perfect cell in DB 385 (DBZ 191) pg 2.2 not that he was stronger but that he beleived he would win regardless.

The kai's who trained Gohan this whole time did not even consider bringing him to fight.
