  • This is BAD.

  • LOVELY LADY FASTEST ON THE STREET, ROMNMLJNKLJNHLKJHSKDJHFKIOU OPIHJWALKENFASLKDVBlkzj'FLAKSJDL;FK, DOESN'T TAKE A LOT OF SAVVY JUST TO BE A WHORE!!!!!!!!!! LOVELY LADIES WHATCHA WAITING FOR!!!!?!??!?!!?!?!?

Was this the screamo version of les mis? Or the Mel Gibson version?

  • Frantine just can't get a break can she, and neither can Cosette , man its a hard knock life

  • Decent acting... but a lot of out-of-key screeching and not much work done on the vocals..

  • Wow...I'm sorry, I know you directed this, but Les Mis is a difficult show, and not all schools can put it on well. The tempo was off, the voices were bad, the words were changed...you really should have stuck with Guys and Dolls or Annie or something.

  • baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

  • that was painful to watch.. horrible.. changing the words and the tempo is completely out, not to mention the tone lol

  • Oh my god! The old woman is so hilarious and believable! I love her even if she wasn't singing - it was speak-singing. And I laughed very hard. And as for Javert, he''s the most believable I've seen of these highschool productions. He gets into his character, doesn't just sing lines straight and simple. Not the best voice, but he's got good character, so lay off him a little guys, I'm sure he did his best! The word changing was a bit...upsetting and irritating, though.

  • Hmmm.. The guy playing Bamatbois has a better voice than Javert. Hmm

  • Why is a Christian academy doing this show?

My high school is doing it now, but we're not editing all the words...

  • hmm interesting. You keep Whore, but Bastard you take away....interesting.

  • @Commulism i thought the EXACT same thing!! LOL

  • they did good with the acting but they dont sond like "lovely ladys" they are closer to little girls. and i dont like that they changed the words.

  • this is rele good!

  • dear javert acting doesnt involve changing ur voice to make you sound like a man pig dear female ensemble whoever your musical director was they sucked taht they let you perform anyone that wasnt blind wouldve cut 90% of you from the show

  • Comment removed

  • The kid who played Jean Valjean has a great voice! I always think it's funny to see high school performances of this number, all the editing to make it "appropriate" lol They did a very nice job :)

  • This is shit.

  • I'm trying out for the part of Fantine next week. Thank you so much for putting up this video! I really needed to see some facial expressions and this was great.

  • why does it matter if somr lyrics are changed it just words gosh i think it good and fine

  • HOLY MOTHER!

    This Fantine is wonderful!

  • Since it seems like people want to give you a hard time. This was good. And the lyric changing is nice, it keeps it as clean as Les Mis can get. And I understand it very well, I've worked backstage at four plays at a Christian school, and yeah people, lines do get changed! Live with it! Do you know, most playwrights, if you write in and explain why you're changing a few words they understand, just as long as your not Broadway or some 'professional' place putting it on.

  • @canadianwritingchik the problem is that les mis isent meant to be clean and proper.

  • I think Les Mis is a really hard show to do, and when we watch a high school perform it we need to be a lot more lenient . My school is doing Les Mis next year and i can assure you all its not going to be as good as a professional version and maybe there are some other high schools that will put it to shame but i know its going to be good. there are problems with this performance but I love Les Mis and love watching any version of it. Fan tine I love your voice. the harshness is true to her.

  • I think that the lady that play the mother coulsd have done better thatn she did.

  • Valjean was the only od one. The rest are screaming

  • Javert has a good voice and so does the pimp but their voices arent deep enough the piano arrangement sounds higher. The prositutes arebt really tuned together very well. OMG the jean valjean has an AMAZING VOICE I LOVE IT

  • i did this a couple years ago, and i know this is a church but if ur gonna do it....DONT CHANGE THE WORDS!!!!!!

  • Quit whining, whinypants.

  • sorry it's just when you do something like this, you put ur heart and soul into it and when you change that, its like taking a part of your heart and soul away

  • Okay...fair enough... I actually directed the show, so trust me when I say I get where you're coming from. What you need to understand, though, is that we were dealing with a very specific audience and it came down to a choice between changing a few lyrics, or losing support (and therefore revenues) from our community.

  • I understand, it was just a shock to see the lyrics changed

  • @brokenstove I know this is a two year old comment but I just had to respond. If I were the director of this production I would kill myself. What a shabby performance. To change the words of an incredible work of art should be a crime, if your audience is so unsophisticated then don't do this play but don't destroy it just to say you did Les Miserables. This is a perfect example why Christians must not ever be allowed to have political power in this country.

  • @allthatfun You seem to be missing a couple of points here. One: these were high school kids - amateur performers - many of whom were inspired to go on into a career in theatre. This show was an opportunity for them to experience something special and to a person, none of them would say their experience was sullied due to the alteration of a couple of words. Two: don't worry - we're Canadian so I promise we won't come to your country and change any of your lyrics.

  • @brokenstove LOL.. No I get they are high school kids and I have no real issue with their singing or acting ability though it too was lacking. What I do have an issue with is censorship of any kind. How would you feel about the offensive passages of the bible being changed ? It would change the entire message as does this version of Les Mis. The entire feeling of the play is altered. What message have you sent these kids by altering this play ? Very sad....

  • @allthatfun Sure, I get that. Believe me, as a Christian I don't believe in censorship either and the choices we had to make in changing the production were not ones that we made happily. It simply boiled down to a difficult decision between doing it with the original text or (in the worst case scenario) having our program shut down or at least significantly neutered. Given the end result - the show was hugely successful - I'd make that compromise again if needed, although (again) not happily.

  • I agree with you. If they knew that there would be some risque subject matter, then just don't do the damn play. Please spare the audience your horrible adlibing.

  • I love the girl's voice, the one who plays fantine.

  • a christian academy did this?????

    lol

    i find that pretty hilarious

  • I was thinking the exact same thing!! Haha =)

  • oh dear god. not all high schoolers are this bad, i promise! we're doing a production and we're definitely better. i think it's called... ummm... oh yea talent!

  • agreed. my school is doing this show too

  • my school did it and it was just as good as the professtional version. but this isnt all that bad, ive heard worse

  • this is scary! and damn right awful talentless racket!

  • good yelling!!!!

  • ..ohh!!..a crowd of prostitutes!!..hahah!!..good thing in our broadway im one of the women workers!!.. hahah!!..

  • "7 days at sea can make you longing to be kissed"

    BUAHAHA!

the actual words are "make you hungry for a poke" are you guys going for a G rated version? lol it's ok you did really great though, a lot better than most high schools. i love the sea men at the beginning

  • scary.

  • gosh.. they sound a bit like suckers!

  • yah right!

  • lees summit north is doing a prouction of les mis from nov.7 to the 15th so come!!!

  • this was absolutly amazing and it true best on youtube

  • i think after the whole screaming lovely ladies part, once javert comes it was fabulous.

  • javert was a bumbling idiot

  • lol im doing a production of les mis on 11th-13th sept.¬!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • **your

  • i've been studying theater for the last four years and i thought it was terrible.

when the sailers and the prostitutes were "singing" its meant to be harmonized, not just people singing random notes.

and no, as far as i can remember its not meant to be screaming. it hurt my ears. its the directors fault for letting it even get to the opening night. god help him

  • learn theatre???? wtf,

i never knew thatre taught you to scream as loud and awfully as you can and call it singing

i never knew thatre taught you to change the word because there are a little 'raunchy'

ohhh wait it didnt so fuck off nooooob

  • where's the pimp?

    why are they shouting?

    it's way too fast

and the changed lyrics made me laugh

  • where

    the

    hell

    is

    the

    pimp???????????

seriously this scene cant be a scene if there isnt a pimp

    i m disapointed....

  • wow this is horrible the guys in the beginning were creeping me out and the old ladies voice was like a rat

  • LOL.

    i laughed the whole way.

  • wow...ever hear of harmony instead of screaming the lyrics?

  • oh my god that is awful

  • bad use of stage, they just look silly. and please dont change the words, do something else if u cant handle lyrics that are perfectly appropriate to the time period, place and type of people the characters are.

  • Fantine reacted with her second part about being had by a rat early the man still had another line to sing. I guess being a Christian school you had to change the words but honestly if your not going to stay true then you should do another no offense I just believe you shouldn't change a musical from what it is originally supposed to be.

  • omg.. seriously changing the words even more..

  • o fuk right i cnt spell dnt hate on me noobs

    slaughtered*

  • slaughterd diz vid of the orig soz i feel soz

    hi jake btw x

  • omg ....

not being funny but yer we done les mis in february [along with freyagill] and to be quite honest youve murdered the whole song ..

i fink if a professional were to see this they would be horrified ...

im just dreading what results your gonna get for your next school musical ...

  • u guys did horrible!! Blake High School in MD did much better...the singing was actually better than the broadway production (said by professional reviewers)

  • omg. not being funy, but our school did that in february, and tbh, we owned you. no offence intended. but srsly. what was with the old woman? she was trying to get hair, not have a poo.

  • Is that wEST END?

  • Hell No!!!!

I Would be ashamed if this was west end quality

  • die bitch die

    someone kill fantine already

  • those are the least sexy hookers i've EVER seen! the fantine was pretty good though

  • That. Was. Horrid.

  • No offense.. but .. omygoodness. That was terrible, they changed the words, I mean weren't they already mild enough? and nobody sang. ALl I heard was screaming! The old woman was dreadful, wow. This was a failure.

  • @AwesomlyRandom amen!

  • they arent very good . they are just screaming

  • Ugh! Censorship simply doesn't work when you're dealing with something as brilliant as Les Misérables! Those sailors are hungry for a POKE, not a kiss! :D

  • omg tht woz awful

  • Oh MY GOSH !

    That sounded awful!!

    Why change the words?

    Prostitues can't sing.

The old woman was tone - deaf.

    I'm really soryy x x

  • @sportybadmintonbabe well she's supposed to be an old woman. she's not supposed to sound good. but the rest they were just YELLING the words!

  • you guys are all retarded

    It was fantastically done

It is almost exactly what it sounds like on the Actual Broadway Productino

    Congrats to the Cast

  • Are You Kedding!!! these guys suck massive cock! (no pun intended)

  • ahhh, god are you, mad? or deaf, these were no where near as good as broadway, no way in hell

  • what the hell was this? It was just screaming!

  • It's just a bunch of horrible dissonant screaming. Why would you do a show like Les Miz if your audience wouldn't approve of the content. Are you completely retarded? It was so terrible the plot doesn't make sense; who would actually want to buy that rat on her head. And if this is any indication of Javert and Valjean's talent, I couldn't bear to listen to "Stars" or "Bring Him Home". Why wasn't Bamatabois cast in a role he was the best on stage. To the cast: Seach Huntsville High One Day More.

  • You guys seriously think Fantine had a good voice? Uh..she can only hit two notes. The rest all sound like she's tone deaf.

And then everyone else is screaming.

The only people who have good voices are the guys at the end.

  • omg. this was horrible. the only one that was good was fantine

  • i really liked it, but i didnt like the blonde prostitutes voice

  • what ya on about they're not freaking west end yet , give them a break

  • it sounds kinda bad, no offense

  • fantine had a really beautiful voice (=

  • What? No pimp?

    That's a shame.

Not a bad performance though :)

  • There is a pimp, but it's played by a girl in this version.

  • for those of you who are criticizing the change in lyrics, HELLO! IT'S THE SCHOOL EDITION! Of course the lyrics are changed!

  • Actually, none of the lyrics are changed in the School Edition - some are removed, but that's it. The changes (whether people approve or not) were actually done by us for the sake of the audience to which we were performing.

  • bad lol sori but it was awful.. fantine was good

  • Oh god. There were obviously no cuts in this show.

    As for the bad:

    1) Too fast

    2) Lyric changes sucked

    3) The sailors CANT SING! They shouted THE WHOLE TIME

    4) Why is it you can say whore but you changed 'bastard' to I don't even know

    However-

    1) Fantine was amazing, from one actor to another, you did great

    2) The leads, from what I saw/heard, seemed pretty well casted

    3) The set and tech seemed very good

  • ohh & the singing sucks.....

  • yes it does even the musical theater at my old middle school sounds better

  • fast enough?? godd.

  • Is there a reason why the prostitutes are represented as completely retarded and ditzy? I hardly see any research being done here, and it's saddening. Plus, the changed lyrics at the beginning are fairly lame. Sailors wanting to be kissed? Sorry, Christian high school, censorship like that is illegal. Stick to "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Annie". Please.

  • Agreed. Really, if you have to change the lyrics to the songs, then you shouldn't be putting it on.

  • What do you expect? It's a Christian highschool. ;) Oddly though, my highschool was Christian, and we did Les Mis-and not one word was changed.

  • hey everyone who was in this play. Woot Woot. it was amazing and every preformance it got better. I also loved this Fantine she acted her songs as well as sang them. Her "I Dreamed a Dream" was wonderful.

  • She sure did act out her songs (I wasn't in this, but I can see).Props to all of you.

  • She actually spit on him, every performance. It helped a lot.

  • WOW! This scene is portrayed alot ickier and creepier than usual. This Fntine is also QUITE miserable!
