Logic has nothing to do with Satanism, especially not Satanism back then. I'm not saying that such an event ever took place, but to say that a Satanist wouldn't alienate 3/4's of the population is a very naive and ignorant statement because Satanists didn't believe that 3/4's of the population were actually Christian. In fact, many of them thought more around the numbers of 1/10th of the population and declining.
You obviously haven't spent time listening to Satanists talk. That's exactly something like what they'd say. They were rather bold in their arrogant speech concerning Christianity. Back in 1980's, they believed that Christianity was on it's way out of the U.S., and Satanism would be poised to take over, a system of beliefs that does not worship a being called Satan, but worships humankind and puts humankind on a pedestal in the place of God.
Amway played on the gullible, frightened and unitelligent people of the US. And it somewhat worked. It goes like this - One person tells ten people, those ten people tell ten more people each and so forth. Word of mouth is the number 1 killer of businesses. It is the best way to take down a business - large or small.
P&G has not stopped putting the moon and stars logo on their products. The moon and stars logo is the first logo that P&G ever had. The stars commemorate the original 13 colonies of the United States. Procter and Gamble is not the largest household company globally. There are several others that have a ton of brands under them... one of them being Unilever. Others - Reckitt-Benckiser, Clorox, etc. P&G isn't Satan. Amway created that urban legend to try and destroy the business.
Pattyblueiz!!!! There u have it! Confirmation that satan want to bring the whole entire world down with him. LMBO! How can we take the world down when satan didn't create himself. He is so stupid and ignorant. Satan and his followers there is a Supreme Being that created u...U are weak...Ha ha ha!!!!!!!
@peedystone Nobody actually follows Satan, FYI. They say they do as a joke to piss off people like you, because it works so well. If you all weren't so gullible, they'd probably stop.
I don't believe that P&G's explanation is true because they have erased it so completely that it is now considered to be an urban legend. I even contacted all three shows to ask about what I saw and they all claim that it never happened. Again I saw it with my own eyes. The man on the show was right about something. P&G is too big to harm because they have products in EVERY isle in the supermarket and their products work well. It is hard NOT to buy a P&G product even if you don't want to.
Yeah, that's one of the biggest things that makes me wonder too. I mean, you find almost nothing about it other than myth, urban myth websites, maybe a blog, which is strikingly odd. I mean myth or not, it just seems way too hushed up, and that's what bugs me about it.
I mean usually such unbelievable things, especially back then, are based on something, a misinterpreted statement, a gesture, an gross exaggeration, but there's absolutely nothing to find as a basis for this rumor
@NewnotesJR "I mean, you find almost nothing about it other than myth, urban myth websites, maybe a blog, which is strikingly odd." Maybe people lost interest.
I mean we're just supposed to assume that it was entirely and completely fabricated with no basis upon which to convince people that it's true? Yet it survives over 15 years? It just doesn't make much sense. There's almost always at least something. Even today where a lot of stuff is simply fabricated, it's still virtually always based on something, misinterpretation, exaggeration, e.t.c... It really just bugs me. I want to get a copy of all those old episodes and watch them all.
This is NOT an Urban Legend! It was in the early 80's. I would come home from school and turn on the talk shows to relax so I know it had to have aired after 3 pm. I saw this man speak these words myself and threw out all of the Procter and Gamble items in the house. Procter and Gamble afterwards stopped putting the moon and stars on their products and made a statement saying that the man was just a disgruntled employee that was trying to hurt the company and denied all claims.
It was in the early 80s on the Donahue Show that this was said ,I did not see it but heard about it and P and G decided to remove the trademark label of the Half Moon and 13 Stars symbol ( they printed on every item they sold) around 1982..I worked with a construction crew in the 90s in a P and G plant and they were still using the symbol on large packing boxes and awards for employess were figuers of the symbol.
The people who perpetuate these rumors are not Christians. In fact, over 99% of the people who call themselves Christians are not Christians, but that is another story entirely.
@Ant1Live As far as I have seen, anyone and everyone will perpetuate rumors, even people I would have thought should know better. The only thing that surprises me anymore is that I still am surprised by what people will say.

@NewnotesJR I haven't actually ever met a Satanist. They probably all grew up and stopped trolling Christians.

You don't happen to remember the year do you? It would narrow my search considerably if you could remember the specific year you saw it.

@Pattyblueiz The only problem is, unless you can produce the evidence, there's no way to take it out of Urban Legend status, even if we wanted to.
