@wa12ch19 her steps got level 1 cuz they were VERY slow. And I think more strange thing is that Yuna got the same score as Mao for spirals and steps in Vancouver and higher for layback spin which wasn't as good as Mao's. She didn't have such flexibilty and this spin wasn't centred at all.

I just got to know Mao in this Winter Olympics, but the more I watch her skating, the more I appreciate her artistry and personality. No matter what music she skates to, the subtlety she presents is beyond description. I can tell even the gestures of her figures are incorporated into the presentation Other skaters may skate with grace, but what Mao has is beyond grace alone. She is like the female Plushenko--skating with passion and chrisma.
i duno why mao seemed so pressurised in the olympic season. in fact, she was very very light, carefree and graceful when she was young. maybe it was the media which hurt her. in fact, kim yuna seems to be affected by the media recently.

I wonder what the coach said to Mao in the beginning. Tarasova looks kind of strict and mean there. That is probably not a good way to coach someone right before a competition, because you want the competitor to release all the potential and talents, not saying something harsh to repress it. I am really looking forward to see a coach change for Mao.
I hope Mao changes to a different style next season. This choreography doesn't look 'right' to her. And the fact that her SP and FS are very similar also works against her.

I couldn't understand how Mao's score in Olympic was so high. She even broke her own career high depite of a few mistakes here and there. Triple Axel? This isn't a circus but a sport. Joannie definitely deserved a silver over Mao. The referees were too generous to Mao for sure.

Yes, Mao Asada seemed very disappointed. I don't blame her. It was not her best performance. But she gave it her all and courageously gave it her all.
Actually JAPAN did win it's 1st Gold medal ever in ladies' figure skating back in Tuledo Winter Olympics 2006. Also, another Japanese won a gold medal back in 1988???? That' wasn't Mao's best performance, but you cant beat the "Queen ". I"m Japanese American and I am so proud of her and Kim Yu Na..finally Asians are recognized for something once.... no offense but the American skaters cannot compete at the level of Mao and Yuna.

Mao asada is one ugly kid, but a good skater. She lacks skills against that korean girl though. She also lacks a pretty face, my god! Look at mao's big fucking ears, they look like dumbo ears. And she's fucking cross eyed. But shes a good skater, but fuck, she doesnt need to be bitter when the korean girl beat the fuck outta her. Anyway, my respect goes out to korea on this one.

I couldn't understand how Mao's score in Olympic was so high. She even broke her own career high depite of a few mistakes here and there. Triple Axel? This isn't a circus but a sport. Joannie definitely deserved a silver over Mao. The referees were too generous to Mao for sure.

Fact of the matter is, Koreans and Japanese are like Jews and Nazis. Japanese treated us like Nazis did to Jews so we're only paying them back with eternal hatred. From elementary school and kindergarten all Koreans are taught to hate Japan with a passion. We can't stop smiling at Japan's misery. Unless there is unconditional apology and financial compensation for the colonial period, we will never ever forgive them.

Japanese athletes are pretty good in general, but in the 2010 ice ring that korean girl out performed the jap by a lot. And Japan is doing horrible in the 2010 games.

I support Mao and Yu Na alike. I dont see why people have to bring races into this as its completely irrelevant. This is figure skating not a fight between races/nations/people.

I really hope that you will find someone who can unleash the inner profound potential and artistic sensibilities in you. I had a Russian coach for the piano before, and I struggled a lot on whether or not I should switch my coach. Congratulations to Kim Yu-Na, you deserved the Gold Medal. A Great Performance. And Congratulations for Mao Asada for courageously going for the 2 Triple Axels. She really went for it and skated Wonderfully. She made mistakes, no doubt about it, and Kim Yu-Na Deserved the Gold.

By the way, did you guys all see Asada's face afterwards? That was not disappointment, she was horrified. She was under just as much pressure as Kim Yuna because japan has won no gold medals at all yet, and she was their last hope for one. Not to mention the disgrace the vicious japanese media is gonna cast on her for not getting them a gold. I truly feel bad for Mao. She's only 19 too.

Actually JAPAN did win it's 1st Gold medal ever in ladies' figure skating back in Tuledo Winter Olympics 2006. Also, another Japanese won a gold medal back in 1988???? That' wasn't Mao's best performance, but you cant beat the "Queen ". I"m Japanese American and I am so proud of her and Kim Yu Na..finally Asians are recognized for something once.... no offense but the American skaters cannot compete at the level of Mao and Yuna.

I feel obligated to say did anyone pay attention to her expression when she got her scores and then was on the awards podium? It wasn't gratitude or happiness - she was genuinely MORTIFIED that she placed second - it couldn't have been more obvious. Its disgusting that so much of the Japanese culture will actually be disrespecting her now as a result of her silver placement. She's so young for christ's sake - be HAPPY WITH HER RESULT DAMN IT!
