@typhooni8 The graphics and general gameplay is better and more streamline but the story is not as good as Homeworld 1. I also wish that the ship balancing was better and that they kept the physics based hit system.
@typhooni8 Internet? I have doubts in finding a copy of HW1 in a store since its over 10 years old, but you might be lucky to find a copy of HW2 in a bargain bin somewhere...
Games today don't have any depth in them like Homeworld did. I will simply play these games forever, I love them. First time I played Homeworld I was only 9 years old, I loved it back then. Now I'm 18 and I still love it!
offf i wish can be able to change the hyperspace colors..........if u are a pirate and have red lasers is pretty bad to jump with a blue hypergate...........and if u fight with hiigans...........
kushan are humans, taiidan are humans, vaygr are humans, there are hints that bentusi are also humans. are there actual aliens in the homeworld universe? o.O
During the Homeworld credits there are some concept art drawings that look like some non-human creatures, though I don't suppose they're actually suppose to represent an intelligent race.
Bentusi don't look human at all, watch the cataclysm cinematic after the mission where you stop them from escaping into another galaxy. While the other three are shown in the cinematics as humans or at least as humanoids. Who knows how they look on the inside! :)
The Bentusi are certainly not humans. There's a cinematic in Cataclysm where they appear as squid heads, probably humanoids connected to their ships with series of ports. The others I agree are humans, just look at the cinematics: Karan ( Hiigaran) is human, Makaan (Vagyr) is human and in Cataclysm when they show the Taiidani who is being interrogated he also appears human.
I've neer seen cinematics, which shows a character of Turanic Raiders. As I know TR's have homeworld in the outer rim. But, In the one cinematics in the cataclysm, we can see a shadow of saboteur, which looking like a human, but I'm not sure.
@routhoula From what I understand, and that isn't much, everyone is human. At some point in the distant past the progenitors (also human) colonized the galaxy then some cataclysm lead to there destruction and all the people through out the galaxy were isolated. They developed there own civilizations and myths and legends grew up about the past. Then the first core was discovered and the universe was opened up again.
@WhichDoctor1 in the HW wiki says that the progenitors seeded the galaxy with life. they also come from another galaxy. hulks of their ships are a rarity indicating that no war nor sudden destruction took place. they even had the time to secure their assets(sajuuk, dreadnoughts, and the lot)when they for some reason left the galaxy. they were expecting to come back but they ascended. younger civs advanced enough so that they can overcome the defenses of the progenitor secrets.
the concept of fleet command (karen s'jet) as a living CPU is incredibly similar to the new battlestar galactica "hybrid". I wonder if RDM got his idea of cylon hybrid from battlestar galactica.
Ghost in the Shell, then Matrix was the first story to have this idea especialy (no I'm not doing cheap generalisation)
Matrix in particular, the production just pretexted the machine used human as "power source" because they tough it was easier to understand for "morron" (you know, the type who couldn't understand the 1st Matrix as it is know.)
ehhhh, its sorta the other way around man, homeworld the original came out in 99 with the same concept, which to my knowledge is before even the first pilot episode of the new BSG came out, by I want to say 5 years?
6 years..homeworld 2 was released in mid september 2003...homeworld original came out roughly the same time in 1999...the reimagined BSG came out with 2 hour movie in december of 2003
ok, what does homeworld 2 have to do with the original concept of fleet command being a hybrid sorta control mechanism? homeworld 1 was the originator for this concept, and I hope I dont sound redundant but that still proves that BSG if any were the ones who stole.
"This is Fleet Command" shivers! haha

Thematically, though, Homeworld 1 uses elements of BSG.
The way I've heard it described is the BSG fleet wanders into the Star Wars galaxy just before Alderran gets blown up.

To my knowledge (I'd have to look this up) Homeworld 2 predates the re imagined Battlestar galactica, unless the hybrids were in TOS BSG.

I thought that Sierra wanted to make a game based off of BSG, but the request was denied, so they went off and did a thing from scratch, homeworld 1.
weylin6 2 years ago
Epic fail. The concept is an extremely generic one, not to mention the fact that Homeworld 1 predates the BGS remake.
