The idea of SETI is interesting but the odds that we will intercept a signal from a civilization millions of years advanced are infinitesimally small. We've used radio waves for .05% of our species' history and the chances are overwhelming that these will soon be extinct.

We very much do not have a guarantee that extraterrestrails will be SENTIENT. (on Earth only ONE species human is sentient) AND tech advanced (we have had radio tech for less than a century). Seti is ONLY able to search for radio waves and that is too limited. As a species we need to find a way OTHER than radio communication to find life.

We very much do not have a guarantee that extraterrestrails will be SENTIENT. (on Earth only ONE species human is sentient) AND tech advanced (we have had radio tech for less than a century). Seti is ONLY able to search for radio waves and that is too limited. As a species we need to find a way OTHER than radio communication to find life.

Due to different climates, different environments, organisms need to adapt in order to survive. These "other lifeforms" could just have possibly been other humans just made in another part of the galaxy. The different conditions varying in planets can change one to adapt.... Like the impossible man in fantastic four... Just an example.

And as far as we know life on other planets is NOT very probable. We know that there has been life on Mars, but we have not found other planets where life is enough probable to be invenstigated.
Life is not something natural, like many people think. Life is a mutation of organic materials, which is very rare to say the least

Carl Sagan was Jill Tartar's colleague and collaborator in the search for extraterrestrial life. Many sources also credit her with being the model for Contact's heroine Ellie Arroway. Quite possibly some of Sagan's signature cosmic prose was in fact Tartar's.

"Unnatural life-styles" what is unnatural about anything in this world. how do you even define the word? Do you suggest we start wearing loin cloths (are they natural?) and live in the jungle. If any human on this planet lives past the age of 50 it due to scientific advancement and technology.

So people weren't surving longer then 50 years before scientifc advancements, which I am sure you associate with mordern science? But good point on "Unnatural life-styles". Everything we do is natural, because there is no set objective purpose for life.
