The utility of a hybrid - for some people - the measure of happiness in feeling good about helping the environment and/or as some people have mentioned, for bragging rights - for some people surpasses the monetary value, thus the additional increase in demand and inflated price. Thanks for the series - you're helping me cram for my economics exam! :)

Thank you for these informative videos. Hybrids have become a fashion in California, just like being "green" is. I've observed hybrid owners brag about how green they are, while their whole family are driving separate cars to the same school or workplace. As mentioned by others, their marketing has also been amazing. It's just a shame that public transportation didn't promote themselves when the oil prices where sky rocketing...

I suppose that people that prefer to buy hybrids are more conscious of the fact that oil powered cars cause a greater external cost to society.

but had to watch it twice ... as when you explain the increase in the demand and a further decrease in supply the major decrease in quantity is confusing
