You should probably do a little more research. It was actually the CLINTON camp that contacted Canada and told them to take the NAFTA comments with a grain of salt. Clinton let him take the blame and NEVER corrected it.

Canada's national paper: Globe and Mail and national broadcaster CBC and Lloyd Robertson's CTV coverage all have confirmed (during ongoing debate on whether to dismiss Chief of Staff Ian Brodie) that it was Obama who contacted them and that Clinton's campaign never contacted any Canadian officials. Obama was trying to show some non-existent muscle, it seems! Also, Ontario's Liberals had used David Axelrod for their own campaign and have connections with Obama.

Bill Clinton got my vote in '92 because he promised health care reform. He put Hillary in charge, and we got nothing! He didn't go into the White House with a Republican Congress - they took over in '94. Hardly a victory for the Clintons.

If the country had believed in Clinton, the takeover by Republicans would not have happened so easily. Remember Newt Gingrich? Newt and his buddies had a stranglehold on Congress for years. Now we have a slight Democratic majority, but they can't get anything done without an effective leader like Obama. Obama is a uniter, not a divider like the Clintons. When working with Congress, skillful use of words IS important - Obama has the oratory skills needed to motivate both parties to work together.
