I normally abhore changes for the sake of it. I think it's pointless and immature. But in the case of RE, I'll happily say I was wrong. RE4 reminded me of why I loved games. It was the logical and correct step for the series to take.

I am one of these old crusty RE vets. The only thing I'll shake my stick at is the fact they got rid of the vendor in RE4. Otherwise, it's been a pleasure to see the series develop with the technology. :)

I really hope each character's storyline is long. Rather than some 5 hour bullshit arc. I want to feel like I'm buying three games for the price of one. I know that sounds unfair, but think about it: that has been the hallmark of the RE series. Difference scenarios. Jill and Chris in RE1 and Leon and Claire in RE2.

Story has always been the most important aspect of RE and broadening the style of play is what's allowing Capcom to take it to new heights. You think you could've stopped Wesker's plans for a new world with the same sense of urgency with the old style of play?

RE6 is now taking it above and beyond. Simple as. And as much as I adore the old style of play, to go back to that would be to take many steps backward.

RE5 is entirely story-driven. Not just that, it tied up many loose ends, not only revealed where the Progenitor Virus came from but gave great exposition towards how the Stairway to the Sun flowers were found, cultivated and more. At the same, leaving plenty of subtle doors open for a sequel to pick up from.
