The Democrats don't want to make ANY moves that will jeopardize the swing voters in '08. These swing voters are, primarily, AVID "Support the Troops" people. It's a strategy of give Bush and the Republicans most of what they want. If it works, fine, the Dems are a part of that success. If not, it's, "Hey, this is what Bush and the Republicans wanted."

I'm not talking about "independent" voters. A lot of voters who call themselves independent are disgruntled Dems and Repubs who will go back into the fold come election day. I'm talking about the true swing vote in the middle that has been there for decades. These folks are fully behind the troops and the Repubs have fogged the issue of war to mean "If you don't support the war, you don't support our troops." That's why Barack and Hillary have been tip-toeing around the issue.

well for instance you can critisize, perhaps responsibly, Steny Hoyer for "caving in". I would agree. Yet go look up: Rep. Hoyer - Intelligence Authorization Bans Torture on utube. He's shown leadership on other issues and so have many Dems.

U want more? Get a larger majority and a progressive Democratic President. Be realistic. Put things into context. Much has changed..much more needs 2 be done. Somewhere in the middle is the work we need 2 get done ourselves.

no prob. I mean I'm disappointed but there are vast distinguishing differences between a Democrats and Republicans. We need to seek to understand these differences and challenge ourselves as well to look past our own perspectives 2 make these distinctions. To realize that real progress and change takes time. It takes the critisizm, but it also takes the proper acknowledgement.

Air America is a beacon of hope. Yet even progressives have much room 2 progress. We must realize this.

what we have to do is elect fewer greedy crooks. they aren't capitulating because they are weak, they are bowing down because they are being paid off.
