Why do people that like a certain type of music have to bash one that they dislike and say is crap? People's attitude towards music (and everything else) is unique. What you find great is not always great to the person beside you. I enjoy all kinds of music: Classic, rap, country, reggaeton, etc. I prefer some over others, but I don't believe any of them is crap. They are all forms of expression. I do disagree with the image of that certain styles try to project, but that is different.

@jmitch07 'Music' can take many forms- Opera, classic, country etc; even rap. I enjoy this style of music AND many others including some 'rap' songs. While you are quite right in saying some rap lowers cultural levels it doesn't mean it is not music. To me music is anything that speaks to me, anything that I can relate to; anything that I can feel. So don't critize other forms of music because YOU don't enjoy them-the fact is others do that doesn't mean they are more or less worthy to be 'MUSIC'

The rhythm alone can set the emotion the song is meant to have, the lyrics give us something to relate to, to remember, to feel. The lyrics and rhythm combine to fill us with the emotion that the artists are trying to relate to. For the record, this happens with every genre, rock, pop, rap, etc. You may not like the emotion they are using, but that doesn't mean it's not music.
