  • Wow, you have a very good grip on the timing and balance of your "weapon of choice". I've taught traditional martial arts for many years and a lot of people simply can't get to your level of fluency even with proper instruction and lots of practice, so bravo if you learned to handle it all on your own!

From the looks of it I'm guessing you're playing with a hollow metal pipe in the video? You should try a wooden staff next :)

  • @FoilHattiest haha thanks :) I appreciate it! I want to learn with a professional. Yeah that it my shower curtain rod :) I taught myself most of it during the summer of 2005. I want to get a wooden stick, any suggestions on type of wood or a good website? Thanks!

  • @oneawkwardgirl Well, based on where you're coming from I would suggest a japanese "jo staff", usually made of red or white oak and mostly used in aikido. It's only 4 feet long and with similar thickness to what you're using so your fingers would recognize it right away. It would feel a lot the same as the metal one but weigh a little bit (but not too much) more of course, which adds a bit of a new dimension for practice and also provides more buttkicking power without being too cumbersome :)

  • That is incredible! What kind of staff is that?

  • Wooooooooaaaaahhhh! That was aaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwsome!

  • Irrelevant but, your hair is so pretty!

  • SENSEI!!! How are you with a Katana??? There can be only one...

  • So cool :-) You have serious ninja skillz indeed!

  • You have AWESOME ninja skillz. I'm not just saying that because you can kick my butt.

    Seriously, that was AMAZING!!!!

  • Did you used to do baton twirling or is this just a trained ninja talent? What lead you to decide to learn this? It looks really neat and works very well with the music.

  • @Ravenclaw2313 no I've never did baton stuff before, my grandma did and she tried to show me, but the baton hates me :) I learned the basics on my own during a summer in high school and the next year I started a flag team. It was cool for one year but then got really lame so I quit :) But I just use a staff now and I can do so much more without the restraint of the flag and the wind.

  • @oneawkwardgirl And (with the staff) you can pretend you're Gandalf. :)

  • @hpfan124 Or Donatello! =)
