you either import from ME1 where you let Kaidan die, or you play Genesis dlc and save Ashley on Virmire.

I always save Kaidan  because my maleShep hopes to romance him in ME3. yeah.. gay ! LOL

My female Shepard kicks ass, too. That Shepard reminds me of an anime character, but I love her eyes, I agree. I liked Ashley, though. The romance was kind of interesting but it was really no big deal.
