  • please explain the randomizers, that's the only machine I don't understand

  • to make puzzle levels/game or monster spawn randomly like in RPG you need something called randomizer. normally in programming its just rand() function or something similar depending on the scripting language... anyways first thing people would say is my randomizer is not random by itself which is true, you need to have the players input added into the mechanism to add more random effect, but still over time you will see patterns, just like anything else, you leave it over time it will

  • make a pattern, just more random the mechanism/function the harder/longer it takes to find that pattern.

    In simple... randomizers make stuff happen at random, multipy that random and you have even complicated randomizer. Now how to use it... thats up to the creators imagination... u can get my randomizer from my Little Big Colleseum level by acing it (just drop down the level solo and you can get in less than 20 seconds. You can also copy the level to see how its working.

  • okay, using this info, I made a level that uses this but it lags, I tried reducing the decoratioms to a minimum but it doesn't help, how do I prevent lag?

  • Only thing I can think of for lags is.

    1. Too many objects moving at once on (visible) screen - not sure if non visible items moving counts. Like emiters over time even off screen will keep on producing stuff, and if you have that on infinite could be the problem.

    Check my lights level, that one has tons of stuff moving at once and it lags only little bit.

  • 2. Your internet connection??? but most people including me... would say... NO MY INTERNET IS FINE!... so dunno if it's tihs, only way to test this one is ask your friends to try it, probably better to published it locked and give the keys to your friend so they can try the level solo without you.

  • oh sorry, gonna get this game soon and im trying to learn how to make levels and stuff and i love your levels, ive seen all your vids on LBP and i think you make awesome levels but im still kinda confused on all the parts, it seems very complicated but only the better to make awesome levels!

  • Don't want to sound like a dick, I love LBP myself but dude, you have A LOT of free time. But hey, I guess I wouldn't mind to play games all day either.

  • if you call i have A LOT of time creating games after putting my son to sleep and doing family business and playing LBP from 11PM to 3 AM ALOT of time then sure I guess. I work from 6AM to 6PM and do all the family stuff till 10PM and since video game is one of my favorite times I spend little extra taking off my sleep time.

  • oh and also to note I don't always stay up to 3AM since sometimes sleep attack happens I end up sleeping on the ground anytime from 12AM-3AM so 1hour - max 4 hours a day after doing all the stuff I need to do...

  • if you dont have alot of free time (1 - 4 hours max) how many days did it take you to do this? i have like 3 hours a day (week) all day (maybe) on weekends (depends if my borhter kicks me off the ps3 lol im 13 hes 19 its his ps3

  • mmm I already knew what I wanted to make so once I had the randomizers working the way I wanted it was all just putting it down in game, everything else was sketched in my notebook and head, and that happens during work or when I'm driving or taking care of my son + wife lol

  • me, as a 13 year old has all day to mess with this (on the weekends) and I'm just barely scraching the surface of figuring out all this stuff and I've had this since christmas (also seeing as I hadnt played it for 2 months lol) but after school I dont really get that much time, probably about 4 hours

  • Didn't mean to offend you. I guess I was wrong . . . I just assumed based on the quality of your levels that you spent a lot of time designing them.

  • You must have a lot of patience, when I try to make something complicated, and something go wrong, I just give up. I'm not patient, so downloading levels is perhaps the thing i should focus on...

  • i just have one question how do you make someone unlock a checkpoint without them acually crossing it i know its confusing but i need help

  • if you look closely the first checkpoint is whats being used in other check points, the check point drops free fall into the box (normal mode) or drops all the way down to score board for death match mode.

  • how do u make him spawn at the bottom score place? Like if you die, how do you make it so that you dont respawn at the beginning?

  • the first checkpoint is on a dissolving material, once game starts that dissolves and drops the checkpoing to either the box (normal mode) or all the way down (death match mode)

  • nothing yet... I wish, the closest somone got is probably Jemi-maru his vehicle that can go upside down is awesome... someone else made a beta level using similar method and was called Crimson... something... or maybe was Violet... it was awesome, it's in my hearted levels...

  • I would say this one was about week and half. The idea of the mini-game was already flying around my head + in my note book for some time since I got LBP... Was trying to figure out how to make something random enough as possible, and finally got that working so took a test drive and it worked... after that was just planning what to put in the mini-game and get user feedbacks on what they wanted, thats how i got the user settings idea and the death-match/regular mode.
