In my opinion this movie is much more than an obsession with the number 9.

1. shows the flexible acting abilities of Ryan Reynolds.

2. John August's story deserves much more credit that it currently does and i believe that is so because for people outside the US or Canada there is no way for knowing such a film exists unless we find it by accident.

3. Most people don't understand the complex meaning of this film.

i really enjoyed this film...started off quirky and didnt know what to think of it, but once the concept was revealed and u understand whats going on..its great..its one of those films that will improve on repeated viewings...

Because the world is his drug. Ryan Reynolds has been using it so long, he's forgotten who he really is. Hope Davis, along with a couple of other Nines, were sent to ruin each one of his incarnations' lives, in order to bring him back.

It's really not that complicated.

i agree, i happened across it in blockbuster and was blown away by the story and the way it was told. if you rent it be sure to watch until part 3.. then you'll be hooked

No think this is the Sims as the film is not about a game. It is real, although complex and slightly mysterious.

And I would say it is one of the best films I have seen. I saw it with 3 other friends and they thought the same I and am still totally hooked and trying to get everyone to watch it.

You'll probably have discussions with everyone afterwards!

Yup, how do you know you're not controlled? What if someone in future invents Sims 2040 where chars are far more complex than now, where you save the game and load it but obviously "people" in the game don't know that. Are they real? Wouldn't it be just like this guys "carrer" that suddenly didn't work out like it should ? (thanks to another 9) ?
