Sad that we'l never see that on our TV screens again. nine years on and I'm still sad about it. WCW could have picked it's self back up with good enough booking and a little patience. Even Vince could have saved it, but his ego was too big to allow that to happen.

In India, we only watched WWF at that time which showed Raw is War, WWF Superstar and LiveWire.

TNT starts at 9 pm at that time and also only Nitro comes every Friday..so it was less popular here

Nitro never won in 1999. I grew up watching WCW and I felt bitter about the WWE buying the company. However, once I started watching old WWF matches I realized that even back then the WWF was kicking Nitro's butt and rightfully so they deserved to be the dominant wrestling company.

In a weird way when McMahon acquired WCW and ECW, wrestling became less interesting because there was no longer any mainstream wrestling competition. ECW is still around, but you know it's still WWE with the ECW logo, and you now have TNA which is coming up. Nevertheless, mainstream wrestling entertainment is not the same as the good ole' days :-)

It truely was the golden age of wrestling! The Monday night wars drove these companies to there absolute limits and the winner was not WWF/E, WCW or ECW it was us the fans! But now Vince has no one running with him they have just laxed so much. WWE beat WCW from late 1998 to WCW's downfall in 2001. Was it consecutive wins? No, Nitro won a couple here and there in 1999, but WWE's dominance those years lasted longer than the 86 weeks WCW beat the then-WWF from 1996 to 1998.

Because WWE was going to make WCW a seperate promotion under their banner(KInda how The New ECW Started out before just being a WWE Brand). Thats why they Re-branded it. But Vince could not strike a deal with TNN/Spike or UPN. So instead they just went with the RAW & Smackdown brand extension.
