chores: Brother, why are you taking so long, oh god... it's too urgent
a) It is a sarcastic mocking of the atrocities in te society where restaurants of greed, Anger, lust and hatred are opened everywhere. He says "People, eat, drink or do wht ever you want but in te end you've gotto make the payment for all yur sins".
b) I am making riches in life but in te end nothing is permanent, we hve to die someday, so dedicate your life for joy and love.
What an amazing combination. If only we can make this kind of harmony in all areas of life, the world would be an amazingly lovely place to live in!!!
My headphones simply do not go loud enough. And in previous comments, wrestling the devil certainly does not have a language barrier. I say this in the context of a French-Canadian, Russian. In all languages and cultures, music like this lifts the spirit.
o actually really liked the clash of both cultures combining their forces and creating a really good song. the dual languages really spices it up as well.
not one person hates it and you can tell. the crowd goes wild
OMG! This is (a bit) like George Harrison's '74 US Tour (or what he wanted to do: Bring Indian music and spirituality to a Western audience). I wish he could have been around for this.
@spinalcrackerbox I'm sure Harrison would have loved it, although, he was more into classical Indian music. This is Rajasthani folk music, which came from farming communities in the deserts - hence the cowbells and strange instruments. I think that's why they gell so well with Mumford and sons and Laura Marling, as folk music is pared down and organic.
This is one of the reasons I love Mumford and Sons so much. Not only is their music fantastic, but they've introduced me to other great bands and artists like Laura Marling and OCMS. I had almost lost hope in music for a while there.
this is the proof that music connects people and cultures... funny thing i spoted out, at 1:13 everybody is holding a camera to film and at 4:55 everybody is clapping, while at 5:41 everybody is jumping or clapping.... i really love this one.... great gig, great musicans
woah!!! me and my girlfriend love this, it gives us hope that people are not selling out and that good music is still very much alive, this is just amazing!
i would do anything and i mean ANYTHING to be able to play this song with these guys! when im in college i always have this vid on and i have my head phones on full blast smacking the beat with my hand on the table n the girls look at me like :S and im like well you would do the same if you could here it! SO MUCH LOVE.
@bethanygraceish Oh man SAME HERE pal. Don't you worry people give me all the same glares... hahah they just don't know how to rock out Mumford&Sons, Laura Marling and Dharohar Peeps style. And if ever you need a banjo player to complete the musical recreation of this I am your gal : )
@musiclovinggurl123 If you are talking about Laura Marling, the truth is that Marcus cheated on her, so I would presume that it was Laura who recieved the broken heart. Dont get me wrong, I love mumford and sons and laura, but I am afraid you are wrong.
what an energy they have! it's totally amazing. although i don't understand a word what they're saying (except for Laura), I think it can touch you through music!
Anyone knows where I can find the translation to the non-english part of this song? (Thumbs up if you wanna know as well. We get this on top, someone is bound to answer.)
@HerrWiegerinck I don't understand clearly the first half of the song since it's in 80% regional languages (sorry I do not know the name of the specific Indian language they are singing in) but I can attempt to translate from 3:12 since the lyrics mainly consists of Hindi and is absolutely hilarious & yet fun to listen to aha.
@HerrWiegerinck It is sung in one of the local dialects of Rajasthan (a distant cousin of Hindi). I cannot understand most of it a. because it is a remote dialect and b. it is quite fast. I can translate some bits of it...specially towards the end of the video:
Oh brother, how long will you take to remember the lord? Chant his name urgently ("urgent" can be heard clearly)
New "restaurants" serving lust out there, do take your time to chant HIS name
@HerrWiegerinck Alright.. I’ve tried real hard to understand the first bits but like abhishekghate said it’s just too fast and in a regional dialect which makes it even more difficult. But I can translate 4:25 onward
This is mine, that is also mine, the coffers are being filled (‘development’ he uses)
You never know when a calamity (accident) might befall you
Coming, going, entries, exits, nothing in life is permanent
Gradually, in your time, you must get to know life though and through (100%)
The thing i like the most is that everyone just looks sooo happy because they are doing what they love, and that love is what produces this beautiful music.
i've been a little leery of marling-joni mitchell comparisons in the past but on the basis of this and the new album, work where she shows remarkable self-assuredness,i'm no longer uncomfortable in comparing the respective talents of two remarkable artists and indeed taking laura's tender age into account, she has at least the potential to be deemed the superior talent when all is said and wrote.my regret is that she will be writing great songs when i am no longer alive to hear them.
