dude anyone familiar with windows wouldnt have a problem understanding those icons and their layout. just like going to control panel and closing it to reveal the desktop on nearly any windows pc. you want confusion?? try using windows all of your life and booting up a mac for the first time.....like a virgin on prom night, your confused and in the end dissapointed lol
actually i got my 8820 and the gps is free u can find your location but im using mapquest maps because stupid att doesnt allow BB maps, the gps is free itll find where u are using satellites but in order to load maps and stuff u need internet connection.
Sounds pretty biased to me. Anything new is going to be unfamiliar and take some getting used to. I don't need labels on the icons because I've learned what each does; it doesn't take that long.
Also, the reviewer claims to have just taken the device out of the box, but then mentions he couldn't "feel" the icons as he scrolled around on the way home. Not to mention his complaint of the GPS failing to get a satellite fix after leaving it "for hours".
yeah blackberrys are cool but i have the wing bc it offers what i need. thats the only reason why i got it! so phone purchasers pick a phone that suits all your needs!!!
I'd like to point out somethings.... The problem with all these reviews are that the reviewer compares things to the the preferred OS or phone of their choice. Reviews should be more showing what the phone has to offer. Also certain things in the blackberry OS are made that way, just because Symbian's toggle button does the whole switch from home to programs thing doesn't mean blackberry has to do that. Infact, the blackberry button serves as a menu button not a toggle button.
UR current Theme=Zen,limits the small 5-6 apps, so pressing the Menu key jumps you 1ST to applications. Also to fix the GPS fix (if you have an 8310/8110/8130/8800series) models go2 Main list of icons (Home Screen), then scroll & click on the Options icon (think of it as Settings in WM6) and find GPS. Refresh the GPS find and BBMaps (or other mapping software, Navipoint, etc, will give you voice turn by turn guidance) will quickly find UR position.
I find it funny that in BBMaps you mention "there's not many options here" and you scroll ever so quickly past the word OPTIONS in the menu.U might've already figured out the BlackBerry key is the Menu key.
this is just theme

Is this phone better than the htc tilt phone?
abramd16 3 years ago
i have this phone and i would pick this over a tilt. its more compact and the keyboard is easier to use.

A bit of open-mindedness would've been nice

The time and amount of frustration that it takes to get used to the phone could be greatly reduced with a more intuitive user interface design.

taking steps in the room will not change your position, GPS/A-GPS is never that accurate (less than 10ft on avg)

I walked around outside for about a mile and the "Find Location" would not find my location. However, the "Start GPS Navigation" option did.

Thanks, I'll try that. But why can one command in the BB Maps program get my position, while the other one can't?
