Hi Daniel. The lunges in this workout are down/up as opposed to forward/back. While the lead foot does appear flat, I'm focusing on stepping down onto the heel of my stride leg, then engaging the glute and driving up through the same heel to return to the start position. The motion creates no issues at the knee, personally. Thanks for the question!

On your lunges, do you find yourself pushing off with your toes or with the balls of your feet? How does it affect your knees?
