I never had the opportunity 2 meet Brenda Jones. A few years ago my brother was dating a women who thought she was related to this women Brenda Jones. I did some research. Wow...incredible women. Incredible talent and beautiful. Home life in Ohio wasn't perfect. She started singing young & taking care of home young. I don't think this song was written about any adopted son...she had children in Ohio that she walked away from.

This is an extraordinary record - probably the most unusual soul song ever recorded. There can't have been many written from the perspective of an absent biological mother. Knowing the backstory makes all the difference - thanks for sharing it.
