From what I can tell, This is a small kingdom, ruled over by of course, Lord genome. Who, instead of having good intentions, seems to be just a languid prick content with living the high life.

Nia is the princess and although she doesn't seem to be in any trouble, she seems ignorant of whats really going on around the kingdom/castle. Simon see's her and of course its the whole true love scenario. The markings, as near as I can tell mean slaves, or the lower class.The rest seems straightforward.

Gurren Lagann Parallel Works are basically a series of music videos using the BGMs from the tv series. The events that happen in these music videos are either the characters in an alternate universe, such as Viral being a desperado in a western cowboy-esque setting or Simon and Lordgenome fighting as samurais, or they are background stories to the series itself, such as how the Black siblings got their hands on King Kittan or how Lordgenome became the Spiral King.

Every time i see this video, i'm reminded of Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter-which, if i remember correctly, was actually one of the inspirations for TTGL. The dark atmosphere, the obvious chaste system, the whole "escaping from somewhere for the sake of a girl" thing , it's all in here.

This is truly a great song, and the Parallel Work that was made to accompany it is a true work of art that shows many of the themes from Gurren Lagann: An opressive society, Loneliness, Hope. Love.

Now that I watched this one more closely I saw that Nia is leaving with the rebels led by Viral, while everyone else gets stuck behind. Again, even in parallel universes Nia and Simon dont get to stay together =/. Kinda reminded me of Episode 11 of Samurai Champloo...where Jin meets a suicidal woman at a bridge I always felt that one worked as a standalone piece

@KajiRider1997 Wrong. In the artbook it explains that everyone who has a mark is a type of android that is under control of lordgenome. They can never leave the castle. Nia is one of many people who are brought in for entertainment and then when they are done they terminate her. So Simon, who met her as a small child (he looked the same, hence why she was looking up at him in the flashback) helps her escape. There you go!

By definition of 'animation' there are other vids that have better animation than this one. Except for Smon's and Nia's run at the end it's actually quite static. Kittan Zero has the most constant dynamic movement, the last minute of Kiyals vid is VERY impressive, or Gurren's walk in Gunman Symphonia. I also love the movement in Goodbye. SoW has the most beautiful and polished visuals, colors and ambience. Was also one of the hardest to produce but not because of the number of drawnings to make.

That's not jail that's just a window with bars like most windows in the castle. And you never know, it's kinda hinted by how they interact... they still could be 'close' despite both being prostitutes (that was Kamina's 'client' not a gf). The creator wanted to explain their situation first in here (but couldn't fit it in) and then in a manga but she's constantly out of time. They both do the dirty job in here because the Boss makes them to and he's said to have complete power over them.

Hard to tell, they have just one scene together and it's clear they share a close friendhip but I'm not sure if * this* Kamina would have the zeal to burst out with something like this- his attitude is adult and his personality is quite jaded and serious considering what he has to put up with (Simon is also very mature), but he still, as always, rises Simon's spirits with a smile on his face... So I gues they are even if it's not spoken out loud.

I am not saying your analysis is wrong. However i do not see that mark on Simon`s head. At the end when his hair is blown to the side i am unable to see the red mark. But Nia does react afterwards.. so i am not sure.

@DesertStarr The mark is visible in higher quality and looks like 'ZZ' . As for Siomn's fate, it's only certain that he must part with Nia. The mark does prevent him from going outside but it was never said anywhere that he was supposed to die there. If he died there on Nia's eyes, she wouldn't just stare at the sky melancholy.
