This "public option" concept is such BS. Schumer KNOWS the public option will prevail for the simple reason that it can absorb significant losses (and pass them on to the American taxpayer) and private insurance cannot. Roosevelt did this with the TVA: he knew private sector utilities could be priced out of the market by undercutting them. This is disingenuous from the get-go, and they all know it. Make it cheaper, and they will come, then pass the cost overruns to the taxpayer.

The public colleges analogy is making the opposite point because that system is funded by government subsidies, which is exactly why private insurance couldn't compete with a publicly-subsidized option. He's is making the point for opposing a public option. Devil is in the details!

funny you say that. My sister-n-law is a widow. She's older with no income of any kind. So we allowed her to move in with us. she made some calls and was told she could get $0 a month in foodspamps. So i take her down to get them. but what made me sick is to see a black woman with 5 kids. Every kid had a cell phone. Even her. While in line they all were texting the whole time. She gets up and they give her $3500 in ad and $600 in foodstamps.
