Even though green might not be the best color now, it was popular when the car was new. It would be a nice color when the car is restored. It would also be less common, so you probably won't have to park to an identical one at a car show.
Defiantly have your work cut out for you, to do it right this is a like a 2-3 year restoration for a normal person close to a year if you pay a restoration shop to do it.
Keep at him he will most likely sell it eventualy there are some lads out there that will keep old cars just to look at for sentamental value and rather let them rot to bits! then again if you dont keep the presure on you could come back he would of sold it!
I remember this run down 68-69 GTO convertible that sat behind this abandoned house next to an old church for my entire life in my old hometown. My buddy and I thought about taking the car just for the sake of getting it out of the weather until we figured out exactly what happened to the owner, but decided against it. Then one day it disappeared and came to find out it had been taken to the scrap yard. So think twice if that guy isn't doing anything with that car.

i say unmolested and i mean just that. i.e factory correct and unchanged from their original condition. it makes a difference for a couple of reasons.
1. it is a straight car without any modifications, meaning it's ''pure''
2. it's almost new, except dust, not having been kiddo'd by some other individual.
i lived in falmouth massahusetts on bricklin road there's a real original ford gt40 & on sandwich road a gt350 shelby...both cars have been sitting since the 60's owned by elderly people. if you cross the bridge to buzzrds bay i'll tell anyone where a challenger is, if their interested.. just sitting in a shed no wider then the car...lol

Even though green might not be the best color now, it was popular when the car was new. It would be a nice color when the car is restored. It would also be less common, so you probably won't have to park to an identical one at a car show.
I think it would look great when restored.

Defiantly have your work cut out for you, to do it right this is a like a 2-3 year restoration for a normal person close to a year if you pay a restoration shop to do it.

Keep at him he will most likely sell it eventualy there are some lads out there that will keep old cars just to look at for sentamental value and rather let them rot to bits! then again if you dont keep the presure on you could come back he would of sold it!

I remember this run down 68-69 GTO convertible that sat behind this abandoned house next to an old church for my entire life in my old hometown. My buddy and I thought about taking the car just for the sake of getting it out of the weather until we figured out exactly what happened to the owner, but decided against it. Then one day it disappeared and came to find out it had been taken to the scrap yard. So think twice if that guy isn't doing anything with that car.

boy is it comforting to know that i'm not the only male who gets goose bumps when he sees a find like this.
any of the ss 396's were gold, as were any of the unmolested g.t.o.'s.
i say unmolested and i mean just that. i.e factory correct and unchanged from their original condition. it makes a difference for a couple of reasons.
1. it is a straight car without any modifications, meaning it's ''pure''
2. it's almost new, except dust, not having been kiddo'd by some other individual.

i lived in falmouth massahusetts on bricklin road there's a real original ford gt40 & on sandwich road a gt350 shelby...both cars have been sitting since the 60's owned by elderly people. if you cross the bridge to buzzrds bay i'll tell anyone where a challenger is, if their interested.. just sitting in a shed no wider then the car...lol

when i was there i bought a 64 bel-air, 71' mach 1, 66' chevy II, 65' chevy II, 62' & 63' biscayne, 70' skylark, 67' camaro, 72' grande & i'm sure i've left out a car or two i had the whole area mapped out knew where all the classics were...lol knock on many doors & left many notes...lol my brother just scored a 68' cougar & 69" firebird in that same area..when i drive or walk i rubber neck...i drive every street in my area just to see, what i see & i keep telling myself to keep a log book...lol

sweet find....i fonud a ls6 chevelle once walking down the railroad tracks looking down in a yard...guy said he'd sell it to me for $2800. i was so stupid i ended up buying a 71' mach 1 instead...lol

it was in massachusetts = somerville / medford line ,in medford on the corner of harvard st & winchester st by tufts university i lived on both cedar st & pearson ave @ the time .... the guy had a few collectible cars there...let me in to look around. i bought my mach 1 from the cab company on boston ave...there's alot of old cars in that area & i mean alot...i bought so many i had to stick some in the cape...lol every couple weeks i was buying a car from the 60-70 era

and in case your looking for a real barn find in the town of rhodell, west virginia there is a dude that is about 70 years old that owns a shitty old barn down there....my wifes cousin told me about the cars he has in there. he took me there and no shit there is a 70 ram air VI GTO a 69 column shift GTO and a 68 super bee......now google where that town is and go find them. I SEEN THEM FOR MYSELF!! By the way the guy used to work for GM up untill 1975... PS the garage is unlocked...hint hint

cool car no doubt i know cause a have one...but its only a 325 horse version of the big block and an automatic car...nothing to special...save your time trying to get this one and restore it and just go buy one they are really common cars..then when you get the other one come get this one and part it out
