I can't believe the NHL approved a new team with a 10,500 seat arena. I am forever thankful they did, though, as Ottawa proved they belong in the league!

Yes sir (or mam)! It proved there is room for more than one team in Ontario. I still think S, Ontario will land another team... eventually!

@ReJ40 But teams quite a few teams accualy average 5000 thousand fans so they probably knew ottawa would sell out every game. 10,500 seats every game can hold, till we got a new arena.

@ReJ40 Well they also knew that a new arena (the Palladium/Corel Center/Scotiabank Place) was being built, so they knew they would have a bigger arena.

Such a shame we went on to a dismal 10W 70L and 4T = 24PTS that year. Still.. Great to have them back. Hard to believe that was 16 yrs ago

Very close. But at least Toronto will get a first round pick in 2010... No wait.. they traded that away.. Well there is always 201.... nope.. traded that away as well!  Lol :)
