well it was released in 1981, and it was post-punk/blues-punk.
The Gun Club pretty much created Alt. Country, which if you want to find more of I'd look towards Joe Buck, Jack Whites solo stuff/Dead Weather, A lot of Modest Mouse's stuff, Rasputina, and alot of Vaudeville stuff like Beat Circus and Frater Chovsky and The God Fearing Mongrels. Also, Tom Waits even though he came before The Gun Club.
Link Wray, Dick Dale, and The Cramps are legendary but TGC has unique Delta Blues roots and The Cramps, Dick Dale, and Link Wray are pretty much all either Garage Rock, Rockabilly, or Surf Rock oriented. I mean Let's take The Cramps. Great band but probably had more to do with the development of Psychobilly and horrorpunk than anything else.
Basically comparing these groups to The Gun Club is like comparing Robert Johnson to Little Richard. Equally as great but not at all alike
The girl on the far right -- her name's Annie. She joined as a second guitarist. Only played a couple of gigs with Gun Club (although made this photo shoot). Anyone know anything else about her?
