Finding these and having the technology to do so has changed, or should i say, completed my life! I followed these programs since i was a 'nipper', hardly ever watched anything else, I lived a similar life, and still do and all the better for Jack. Many thanks indeed for uploading the programs, Sreve Homewood, Sussex
Remember, Jack Hargreaves in the children's programme, 'How'? I loved that programme. Wouldn't be allowed on TV now - people over 22 demonstrating interesting facts. It's all rubbish cartoons and smart-alec Disney kiddie sit-coms.
As well as these, there are also a few JH programmes I've streamed on Vimeo - some longer ones from 'Old Country' and even an 'Out of Town'. Google Vimeo and Search or try:

I was always taught that the "LURCHER" was a dog NOT of pure breeding, like such pure breeds as the IRISH WOLFHOUND, which the common man was not allowed to possess.
went to lambourn in ,81,what a show them days are gone, mostly but not for me, I was brought up in a Free England, and I,ll carry on doin whats right and natural to me, and the P,C. Liberal fascists can go rot in Hell
I'm streaming the copies of Old Country and Out of Town that I have, and I haven't got a Part 2. If you come across it let me know, but I'm not sure part 2 was about lurchers. I think J moved on to another subject in the second part of this episode.
I'm really enjoying all these old Jack Hargreaves programmes. I used to watch it whenever it was on TV (and I suppose the quality then wasn't much better than these g) Thanks for these BUT when do we get part two of the Lurcher ? lol
I'll look again. Thanks for that and glad the fill revived the memories. I'm not sure if it's good ort bad that dogs live such short lives compared to humans. S
I've not felt the same affection for greyhounds - bred even today for specialised task - as I feel for the hybrid lurcher in its many forms. Was your lurcher like the one on this clip at 11.24?
@Sibadd He was almost exactly like the dog at 8.51 though with slightly shorter hair...and with more black fur than white. We always thought he was greyhound/collie mix.
Seeing the dog in the clip brought a lot of memories back...
My family had a lurcher we took as a 6 month old from a rescue centre in Kent when I was a child. It looked to be a greyhound/collie mix.
It was highly affectionate, and we of course, being urban English, responded in kind...
I have to admit that "obediance" wasn't Pip's strong point when the whiff of a rabbit or a squirrel took control. He would often make unscheduled trips to the woods!
He was much loved. Sadly, a Rottweiller got hold of him and saw him off
Brilliant i am only 21 and i love all these old video clips. Keep them coming.

We loved this! It was so informative and answered some questions we had about lurcher/longdog terminology. Thanks!
