  • I wrote a poem about this so here's the begening: The door has opened, and in comes the boy, Running so fiercely to great all his toys. Twenty five soldiers in a box in his closet, How he would cry if he ever lost it. Julius the brave; and Dave the wise; Hugo, his muscles were larger in size; Dean, Sam, Dan, Thomas, Bill, and oh! It’s famous old Nathan, who everyone knows. .
  • In case anybody who speaks english here is wondering, the thing that the writer said at the end was:

"As the woman was looking through the logs in the fireplace, she saw what looked like a tin heart from the one-legged tion soldier. And from the ballerina was only a little sparkle, which didn't shine anymore.

  • Sorry guys, I accidentally clicked the dislike button because my eyes were blurry with tears from watching that ending.

  • disney was outstanding as always. their music was so awesome and it fit well with the animation. this is also outstanding. the beautiful ballerina and the soldier. it has more tragedy and yielding to it. the design was amazing. Troll in the box over here is just jealous now he has no one to love. they both burned, but they were together, it's romeo and juliet. two people love each other at first sight, they can't be together, but when they do, they die together. i love this story.

  • OMG!! I nearly cried when the ballerina jumped into the fireplace!! This is more deeper than the disney version. While the disney version focuses on happy endings, this version is the best.Wonderful art and the music suits it very well. Brava,Soviet Union!!! Brava!!!Two thumbs up for the artists as well!!!

  • Omg, I'm crying like a baby. I haven't cried watching a cartoon since I first saw All Dogs Go To Heaven when I was like 5 years old.

TT___TT

  • i cry every time i watch this

  • Narrator's Text in the end is: "In the next day when housekeeper was cleaning the fireplace, she found between the ashes small piece of tin that looked like a heart. All that was left from the ballerina(dancer) was a sparkle, but it didn't shine(sparkle) anymore, it got as black as the coal." The end.

    lloro

    I cry

  • i wish i can understand what he is saying!

  • @LOV4B13 there is a video on here with subtitles....just need to find it

  • Oh my god, I'm crying! I never cry at things like this :c

  • @iwuvsweeney

    me, too... :(

  • Does anyone know what the tune at 3:46 is? I cant get it out of my head and want to know the name of that melody...

  • @heresrobo

The song is called (Elena Kamburova) sings it, but it was composed by Ян Френкель (Yan Frenkel)

  • @OnTheFlyingTrapeze Thank you so much!

  • They DIE? well at least the russians went by the actual story:)

  • Go figure that the Russian's would be, like the only ones to actually do a Tin Soldier animation that actually follows the story. I really don't see why America needs to have a happy ending all the time in their kids stories. Life isn't full of rainbows and sunshine.

  • aw it's a very nice cartoon. I wish I could understand russian though '^^ ...

  • At the end he says that the next day when the houseworker was cleaning the fire she found a lil piece of tin looked like a heart-shape, from the ballerine there was only a spangle left but she wasn't shining anymore but was as dark as coal

  • @InfiniteWolfPack Actually I can make the translation, but I can't make subtitles ))) *blushing* Btw, the voices in Soviet animation are so rich!

  • @dissolveANDcollapse

Oh, no problem about that! I already took a look at the translation ^^. But thank u.

  • I actually feel so bad for the troll at 3:44

  • T///T oh man I almost cried...this is so painfully sweet~ But mostly all of Hans Christian Andersen's stories end with bittersweet tragedy <3

  • there was a time when the people were able to make such a beautiful thing, now this time has gone :(

  • Way better than the Russian version of Alice in Wonderland. Because Russian Alice in Wonderland is like Picasso's version of that story.

  • Soldier's last words was "Yes, my love, yes. No, my love, no")

  • what brilliant and touching music....marvelous!!!!!!!thank you again for posting it!!!!spacibo ot Grecii

  • I cried... so beautiful

  • I love how true to the original version by Has Christian Anderson this is. Excellent, thank you for posting this. :-D

  • crying.........

  • My god that really hit home. Thats exactly how the original story tragedy goes. Extremely moving

  • i wish I knew what they were saying XD

  • Beautiful animation. It moved me to tears.

  • great animation and very good adaptation

  • Nothing to say - one of the greatest cartoons ever.

P.S. If Adrien Brody hadn't been 3 years old when the cartoon had been made, I would have thought that the soldier was drawn from him.

  • you said it.

  • Ohh...she jumped in with him. Oh It's so sad, tears are coming out. I didn't expect that. :'( such a beautiful video.

  • The most beautiful Russian cartoon ever... That's what makes me proud. I cry every time I watch this that's why I don't do it very often. The moment when the soldier is singing and crying is just heart-breaking...

  • im crying!!!!!!!!!!

  • nvm. i love this video. so sad

  • wtf i can't finish this. youtube vids keep pausing.

  • Really a sad ending D: but a great story

  • Ending song:I've returned here nonetheless.

There is no death, I know.Yes, my beloved, yes!No, my beloved, no...Since the fate reunited usYour word upon me bestow

Yes, my beloved, yes!No, my beloved, no...

Eyes were burned by the star's caress

It rolled down, left mark bellow

Wait, little moth, where do you go?

Don't fly toward the light aglow...

    Yes, my beloved, yes...

    No, my beloved, no...

  • oh ! the end's so sad ! when the soldier has fallen into the fire, and the way he looks around (poor guy !), when he starts singing (it's pity I don't understand what he says) and crying, and the girl 's crying too, and goes with him. Then they both disappear... really sad.

  • its almost like the ending to the ballet of Swan Lake (the original Version) :(

    -SPOILER ALERT-

Where the prince and Odette(princess Swan) threw themselves into the lake, in order to be free from Rothbart's hold. :(

  • I love this - The steadfast Tine soldier is one of my favorite stories, and this my favorite animated version of it. The ballerina is so pretty! But I don't get why the narrator says at the end that nothing was left of her but a burnt spangle. That ending doesn't suit this version, since she jumps in the fire by herself. Anderson ended it that way because in the original version, the ballerina had no soul (she was just made of paper), and she didn't love the tin soldier. So she couldn't live on.

  • zizi24816 -- I don't remember any mention of the ballerina not having a soul? She was made of paper, yes, but the soldier was only made of tin, after all. Her feelings were left ambiguous, but she seemed just as conscious as him. (She looked at him at one point, anyway.)

  • I happen to be a fan of disney and I agree with what they did with the little mermaid, but this story was better left alone. Kind of like Romeo and Juliet, it wouldn't be the same if they both lived :(

  • ya. this proves disney sucks. happy endings my ass. what really moves people is tragedy. meaning, they gotta let the main character in their next movie die, or it's gonna get girlly up there. --_--

  • I find this version much more stunning than the disney version. This was beautiful, full of love and longing, and tragedy.

  • did anyone else get frkn sad

when he began to sing to her and then began to cry :[

... never mind i think i know the answer

  • freakin sad.!!!

    i almost cried :[

    the fantasia may have a

    happy ending but it cannot

    surpass this masterpiece.....gha

    im so sad :'{

  • That evil ugly jack in the box mofo should have burned to death instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So sad yet so touching at the end, they just wanted to be together!!!

  • So tragic and soooo romantic. Stupid jealous troll person!

  • @bubblegumlipgloss6 I know right how could he think he would make a couple with the ballerina when he is 1/4 of her size LOL

  • this is so sweet :)

what can i say, it was one of the most ghostly films ive ever seen that were so beautifully done <3

  • Saw this when I was a kid and at the end I cried! Watched this yesterday and cried again! Man... ´`

  • masterpic i rinember this cartoon. finaly i found it, when i was a little cid i used to wach it every day i olwaise cryed in the end the only russion good movie all the rest are shit!!!

  • i can remember my self waching that video when i was 4 years old, and i alweis was rilly sad in the end,i hate russian cartoons, but anderson is great, and that cartoon is art work, if you like taht stile watch the anderson mermaid

  • I was just wondering...why do you hate Russian cartoons?

  • Most Russian cartoons has a lesson of some sort. There are cartoons that are fun as well. I watched many when I was little.

  • omg. that was sad and so beautiful.

I just wish I knew what they were saying!! :)

  • You may put the subtitles in English in this cartoon?

  • Beautiful! The finish is sad ç.ç this is the fairy tale of Andersen that I love more.

  • in this version the Soldier and the ballerina remind me so much of Edward and Kim from Edward Scissorhands....and that evil wizard is like Jim.... I wonder if Tim likes Andersen fairy tales.

  • Nice video! See my version of the brave tin soldier, too!

  • Nice video! See my version of the brave tin soldier, too!

  • Ukh ti!

  • I loved this cartoon.I remember when I was a little boy I used to cry all the time during the end of the cartoon. And now that I am 29 I still do.

  • "Olovyannui soldatik" not "Olobyannui"

  • That was really nice! to bad I didn't understand what they were saying
