I don't think either player was on his game this match. T Srai was blanka balling too much, and Daigo was falling for it. Neither player if you watch their matches seems to play that badly often. That said, beating Daigo on his worst day is a major accomplishment worthy of praise.

there may have been something personal there. id only play like this if someone i was fighting had said or done something and i wanted to make a point not to underestimate me. failing that daigo is well known for punnishing mistakes. ken doesnt have much out of the corner to punish this stuff not till ae anyway. makes sense to keep distance and punish any attempt to attack with whatever he had. no one ever picks up on daigos fireball abuse and ball attacks are safer than slide.

1st round is exactly how you stop/play Blanka from zoning his rolls...

2nd round he stopped countering Blanka's rolls so Blanka's zoning was brewing but he was hurt by a jab to a kara throw in the beginning of this round and a jumping roundhouse near the end...

There are only a few characters you don't see in top tourney play; hakan, gen, deejay, makoto etc.

With AE, the game will be even more balanced which is incredible considering how complex the game truly is.

The tier list of SF4 has fluxed up and down so much, people need to realize that besides a few baddies, which AE will help with, personal input skill and matchup knowledge is the deciding factor of who wins fights.

Charge characters can hold down+back and sit there and then react to what your opponent does to get in. This is what the Blanka player was doing. It was smart and effective. Wins are wins.

The lag excuse rarely applies to Japanese XBL. Japan has the best internet infrastructure in the world, with flawless connections. A 4 bar game will have maybe 1 or 2 frames of lag, which is less lag than most HD TVs.

@silverdoggg It is a punish, a very timing exclusive punish, he can hit him with the F+MK after it but its like 2 frames to hit. But still it kept him blocking and keeps ken in his face, so i dont see why not, ken is a poke/rush char so close to mid range is his sweet spot. Daigo wasnt going for combos or anything after just dmg, cause if he tags him with F+MK then he takes more dmg then Ken from the chip on the Blanka Ball, so it makes him think twice about spamming a blanka ball.
