@TrudiM100 Thanks, Yrudi. I certainly plan to keep Harvey's music going even when he takes a well deserved retirement. He won't officially retire till October 2012, though.
Nope. Don't have them yet. But they'll come soon, maybe today. Transatlantic thing, you know. Sent over on Queen Victoria. Peace to you and yours. Here's a question for you. I always here Scottish singers (you can tell because of their 'brogue?'- singing in English. Do you have anything in the Scottish language? That would be worth listening to. Love to you and yours. Mike
Hi Mike. I have two abums of Scottish songs, which you'll see on my website, though none of the songs are in Gaelic. However, particularly the songs of Burns feature some wonderful Scottish (variation on English) language. Thanks again for your interst in my music. BTW, Lowden Guitars are avaibable in the USA but, because they're made in Ireland, are pretty expensive (but worth every cent!).
God, i love this song, your singing and guitar playing. What make of acoustic guitar is that-So mello. Have an Ovation Thunderbolt and a Gretsch Rancher Jr. I could listen to this song all day. Mike.
Hi Mike. Thanks again for your comment, I really love this song, too and am fortunate to count its writer, Harvey Andrews, as a friend. The guitar was my first Lowden. It's a 1988 S10P (which was later known as an O10 and later superceded by the O22). My son now is the proud owner of that one and I have recently started using a new O22, it's at least as good as my first one. The song is on one of the CDs which should by now be with you - I hope you like the extra instrumentation on it!
Great song-great performance. Awaiting your CD's on the edge of my seat. Have you eer heard the song that starts: "See the lonely old men playin' draughts 'round the tree, in the square of the village of Brambleshirewood andthe care free young boys playin' ball 'round those men...?" I heard it last about 50 years ago by Jimmy MGregor, I believe. Have you recorded this, by chance? Love your work. Mike (USA).
Hi Mike. Thanks again - you should try to find some of Harvey's videos and CDs from his website. I was involved on "The Journey" and "The Gift". Never heard the song you quote, although I grew up with Robin Hall and Jimmie McGregor's music - met and worked with them both. CDs were mailed yesterday, should be with you soon.
Great to see someone taking up the mantle as the great man bows out.
