If that's your example of giving up to face the economy, then you may be right. But it doesn't mean that the environment is being pushed out of view. How can you take Suzuki or Gore seriously? Two of the biggest emitters of CO2 in the history of humanity, I repeat. Suzuki has been a hypocrite his whole life. Plants lose water through the pores in leaves that let CO2 enter. Higher CO2 levels mean they do not need to open these pores as much, reducing water loss.
So, in times of drought???? Good thing, right? Drought is a huge cause of world hunger. Right? Scientists DO agree that higher CO2 levels will increase a plants ability to survive drought. And this is a GOOD THING. Ask the people with starving children in Africa if this is good. Suzuki, however, is a well-fed man.
Mind boggling. We do not know how increased water retention will effect ecosystems. There's no indicator that water retention will actually lessen possibility of drought. Are you actually supporting the increased production of CO2, which we know by a basic chemical process (that I've asked you to look into several times) will increase surface temperatures beyond sustainable levels just because it may help retain water? Africa's problem is political not environmental. Suzuki does plenty to help.

Global warming isn't a myth, you're one of the last to be confused by the term. Climate change is the slow, significant change of average weather patterns to a particular ecosystem or region. Processes that induce climate change are called forcings, & include shifts in solar energy, greenhouse gas emissions, and so on. The fact that CO2 tightens stomata isn't an indicator of a positive nature of increased CO2 levels. Increased retention of water in the surface would likely cause soil saturation & therefore flooding during heavy rainfall. Plus, we don't yet know what unnatural increases in water retention will do to a plant ecosystem.
Moreover, it isn't shocking that some positive effects of increased CO2 occur. Life is resilient at its most minute. Some cave ecosystems base their energy on SO2, with no solar energy. With that, by giving an uncertain example of increased water retention you haven't shut the door on the debate. What about atmospheric temperature increase & the basic chemical cycle that will promote it? Saying plants are growing better than in the past is unfounded. More food supply? Reliable citation, please.

Can anyone answer that? How can we say 100%that 'Global Warming' is caused by increased CO2 emissions (man emitted)when we know that Global Freezing was a natural occurance. Is it perhaps coincidental that man is occupying the planet while the climate swings the other way? In the 70's scientists warned of an impending ice-age. Now they want funding to study Global Warming. But they want to leave a huge carbon footprint while they do it.

You know that since the industrial revolition, CO2 concentration levels have gone up by around 30%? The last major global warming caused a mass extinction, only the cause was the large amounts of volcanoes at the time spewing outlarge amounts of CO2. If by "attributable oceans" means that the ocean currents are causing this change in temperature (as far as i know thats the biggest and most significant way that they change temperature), then you may be right. As far as I can tell man Europe is doing a pretty good job on keeping the green movement going. Us here in canada are lagging behind, I think. If that's your example of giving up to face the economy, then you may be right. But it doesn't mean that the environment is being pushed out of view. I've known about this since Suzuki claimed it. It's not what you've been talking about. In fact, it's quite different. The methods of spreading word have become more efficient, and so it's no longer needed to be effected by the irony of the necessity to travel to teach. Suzuki has always been cautious of his footprint, and now that new methods exist that make that caustiousness more effective, he's utilizing those. You've simply accused him of being hypocritcal in his old age.

The tragic irony of necessary research. Luckily now, such technology is no longer needed to spread wider knowledge. He travelled acrossed the entire length of Canada last year. He travels all the time, and he utilizes carbon neutral. I'm an ecologist. In fact, I was monitoring water quality (turbidity, temperature, DO, & pH) in the local mountains today. Plants lose water through the pores in leaves that let CO2 enter. Higher CO2 levels mean they do not need to open these pores as much, reducing water loss.
So, in times of drought???? Good thing, right? Drought is a huge cause of world hunger. Right? Scientists DO agree that higher CO2 levels will increase a plants ability to survive drought. And this is a GOOD THING. Ask the people with starving children in Africa if this is good. Suzuki, however, is a well-fed man.

Mind boggling. We do not know how increased water retention will effect ecosystems. There's no indicator that water retention will actually lessen possibility of drought. Are you actually supporting the increased production of CO2, which we know by a basic chemical process (that I've asked you to look into several times) will increase surface temperatures beyond sustainable levels just because it may help retain water? Africa's problem is political not environmental. Suzuki does plenty to help.

Global warming isn't a myth, you're one of the last to be confused by the term. Climate change is the slow, significant change of average weather patterns to a particular ecosystem or region. Processes that induce climate change are called forcings, & include shifts in solar energy, greenhouse gas emissions, and so on. Are you referring to the conjecture of global cooling that received no scientific support in the '70s? Why accuse me of not answering when I'm still waiting for your answers?

Sure, he's responisble for producing CO2, I didn't say he wasn't. I made points indicating that he reduces his own production of CO2, and no it hasn't been just recently. Suzuki has been an avid environmentalist since the late '60s. When new knowledge comes to light, it only stands to reason that we must move forward. Do you not agree? There are open letters over the last few days from large groups of both, telling us we need to vote for the environment. There is a ton of evidence showing us that this is happening now. Your question doesn't make much sense, that's likely why no one is giving you much serious attention. It's like asking if you'd eat the moon if it were made out of BBQ spare ribs. It's simply non-sensical. Cycles of ice ages happened at recorded intervals; the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere is significantly higher than before the mass burning of fossil fuels post-Industrial Revolution. Your tendency to insult further degrades any chance of anyone wanting to have a serious discussion with you.

The reason no one is answering me is because my question cuts like a knife through the 'soul' of this global warming issue. Rather than answer the question, you make some saracastic comment about the moon being made of spareribs. Nice going. You really backed up your claims. And you know, plant life is growing better now than at any other time..the CO2 helps prevent water loss. More food supply than ever before, helping people live longer and helping to feed the hungry.

The fact that CO2 tightens stomata isn't an indicator of a positive nature of increased CO2 levels. Increased retention of water in the surface would likely cause soil saturation & therefore flooding during heavy rainfall. Plus, we don't yet know what unnatural increases in water retention will do to a plant ecosystem.

Moreover, it isn't shocking that some positive effects of increased CO2 occur. Life is resilient at its most minute. Some cave ecosystems base their energy on SO2, with no solar energy. With that, by giving an uncertain example of increased water retention you haven't shut the door on the debate. What about atmospheric temperature increase & the basic chemical cycle that will promote it? Saying plants are growing better than in the past is unfounded. More food supply? Reliable citation, please.

David Suzuki represent the environnementalist movement. Not the climate change movement.
In fact, the environnemental problems have multiple dimensions.
Air, water and soil pollution, biodiversity loss, soil erosion, waste management problems (not in north america yet, we have so much space to dump!), diseases rate such as asthma wich is going way up in city areas, etc...

Agreewhy have 31,000+ scientists signed a petition DISAGREEING with man made GW, why are OTHER planets are experiencing GW, the sun is 6% hotter than 1000 years ago impact?, oceans account for 97% of "green house" gas - how much impact could does less than 3% really have? Do some research, I did, and I clearly started with the belief that we were the problem. Suzuki, Gore, and the politically directed and funded UN GW gang are the real problem.

What will all the alarmists do when the world is perfect? What new cause will be used to suck the money out of me to continue to enable their activist lifestyles? This is typical of the CBC or should I say "Bandwagon TV" I am willing to bet my so called carbon footprint is a lot less than Suzuki's, and no amount of taxation or off-setting carbon credits will change that fact. For crying out loud....try walking the walk, what a hippocrite.

Ask me how many times I have been on an airplane? Twice. How many times has Suzuki? Why all the globe-trotting when he could sit back at his computer located on oceanfront property in Juan De Fuca Straight (Which probably only the top 20% of Canadians could afford)and telecommute? You tube seems pretty effective don't you think?
