I was just kidding really, but since you took the bait, I remember Beslan and the theater siege in moscow. I don't remember how many people were killed there ( hundreds ). But the russians proved over and over again that they do not care about human lives. The russian state cares about a display of power ( over the last four hundred years ) but it does not care very much about human rights of humans. Wether it is human rights journalists murdered and never solved or others.

But dont you think many more people could be dead if the forces wouldnt do what they did? Do you remember how many people were inside? in any operation there will be casualties, u want it or not. I dont really see how saving peoples lifes can be compared to display of power. However, you are right about human rights, there are cases that show that authorities dont care, but thats just like in other countries.

I am no western police man, but I know that when ONE hostage dies, it is considered a failure. If 100+ hostages died, as they did on Moscow, there would be outrage. The Russian government since the Czar has always displayed a carefree attitude to its people, then Lenin, then Stalin, the the idiots after Stalin, Putin is a KGB thug and Medveydyev is no different. The violence present in Russian society can not be denied, it is tragic. Europe and the USA are full of Russians who have left Russia.
