This is good! It's a big Lied and many singers have attempted it and failed at either the musical or dramatic level. Wonderful singing from a truly gifted lady.
The boy is desperately pleading with the girl, he can't really blame her for leaving him, and doesn't expect anything else - that is why her reaction is so moving, stressed as it is by the contrasting rhythm
the boy's part is generally sung more "passionate " or "emotional" but I think this is just as good ! She 's a great singer AND actress, watch her Erlkönig with orchestra and Abbado (which I in general would not prefer to the piano)
magnifico, y muy buena vocalizacion. Aun asi, el trozo "leidest du Schmach" lo hace muy lirico, echo de - 1 poco + de vehemencia y firmeza, aunk dp la toma
i dont know, the part where the "boy" sings, she should have sung more....i mean...the "boy" is upset and trying to tell the girl he loves that she deserves better than him. I never thought of that part as legato or smooth the way she sang it. her voice is beautiful no doubt but I think the emotion was completely lost there.
@lacantanteavocado I agree -- the piano is making the sound picture of a storm, and the text says "scheide mit Regen und scheide mit Wind . . . ". It's angry and it's heartbroken at the same time -- lyrical is not the way to go there. That's for her.
I'm singing this in an Eisteddfod soon, it suits the baritone tessitura very well too. This recording has been most helpful in my preparations, thankyou!

I like German woman singers. For example, Geraldine Matter, Marga Hoffden and many others.

@nonnopirro52 : in my honest opinion the word contentezza is too superficial to express such a profound state of mind;-)
