This IS a VERY clever edit of the final episode of the original series. A CGI improved version of course. And what a Trek geek I am for recognizing it immediately. It's only because I watched ST 7 days a week for the entire decade of the 70s. And I still don't consider that part of my youth wasted. :-)
This 57 seconds was infinitely better than that piece of shit JJ Abrams tried to pass off as Star Trek. You have made a very nice video here, and also, FUCK YOU JJ ABRAMS
Seems more like the momment when he realized he had a 'favorite chair'! I guess all men have a favorite chair! He was just lucky enough to have his be on the bridge of the Enterprise! Mine is stuck in the corner of an aging home theater!
To hell with all these other nay-saying pukes. I liked the vid just as it is, and it added a nice touch to he TOS universe...nostalgic. Growing up with it from almost the very beginning, this made me feel all warm and fuzzy with fond memories.
Okay, first off, how dare anyone reference that movie that is "Star Trek" in name only that came out in 2009. Secondly, Sulu was originally a science officer not stationed on the bridge, and Chekov wasn't part of the crew until the third season. Kirk didn't take over command from Pike, that was a flashback episode of the pilot that took place 13 years before the first Kirk episode. Kirk didn't save Pike from anything, Spock was trying to vindicate his former captain's record.
@martyknows When we establish that an alternate universe has been created (read up on Quantum Physics) there's a few things we know. There will be a large number if similarities between the "prime" universe and the alternate universe. There will also be numerous differences. So all this "canon" stuff about Kirk did this or Sulu did that means nothing. This is a different universe. And put down the movie alll you want all the following movies will be based on this one. Please grow up.
@martyknows Actually, Sulu was a Botanical Officer aboard the ship. Chekov came aboard in the 2nd season. In the TOS episode "Menagerie", Kirk stated that he had taken command of the ENTERPRISE from Capt. Pike . Don't argue with me, Marty. I've been a Trekkie since 8Sep66. You DO know the significance of that date??? =Stefan=
Very cool. The live footage is from episode 79 (sadly the series finale) of TOS called 'Turnabout Intruder' where Janice Lester does an entity transfer with kirk and steals his body. I love the way you turned that into a mini episode as though this was something that happened as Pre TOS. VEry well done man! I wonder how Trek history would have went if those dorks at NBC never cancelled Star Trek in 1968 and it went on. What do you think?
That would have been an episode I would have loved to have seen. We would have to wait untill the reboot of the franchise to see Kirk's first command of the Enterprise. Great Job.
the reboot already started, captian kirks first commands were like, head a course to somewhere after Spock resigned his role as captain in the 2009 film, also the old series did show kirks first mission on the enterprise, captain pike was kidnapped, and something with kirk having to save him and being promoted to captain, its nothing like the 2009 film though
No it didn't. That wasn't the first mission, that was one of many missions, but we never saw a first mission where Kirk came onboard for the first time. Since the new movie, we have seen this, but I posted this video before the new movie was filmed, it was a simulation of how it might have looked.
@skarovision A novel was written called "Enterprise: The First Mission" or something like that. It was based on a proposed movie script submitted for the first "prequel" idea tossed around in the mid-eighties (even before Harve Bennett's) where they would launch a second movie series with a young cast set before TOS.
@kylephantom4 Without wanting to be a nitpicking jerk- this is only if you actually liked the 'reboot' universe. Just saying, a lot of the 'old guard' I know who grew up on TOS don't consider it to have 'happened.'
This is only a representation of what it might have been like, had they ever filmed his first command.
There are also some who say, just because we didn't see checkov untill season 2, doesn't mean he wasn't on board. Thats Why Khan recognised him in the movie.
Nice, but it's a shame that there were not enough clips of Kirk in the older style uniform and bridge as seen in the Cage and Where no Man has gone Before.
Not to criticize your CGI, which was nice by the way, but as you can see from the second pilot, 'Where No Man Has Gone Before', the vessel had needle-tip warp nacelles, not the spinning ones, meaning he captained the ship before it underwent that minor refit.
That music, although it didn't come along until TMP, goes perfectly with TOS. A lot more people would have cried foul, but imagine the "enhanced" TOS episodes completely rescored using Jerry Goldsmith's themes.
Nice work. Chekhov wouldn't have been there, though, as he didn't join the crew until the second season -- or, if you will, the second year of the five-year mission.
I heard through the grapevine that Checkov WAS on the Enterprise in Space Seed, but he was off duty, and took a long tme in the restroom when Khan needed to go. He left the stall without toilet paper, and Khan swore he'd remember Checkov's face.

I like the vid. However, I don't think Kirk's first command was not on the enterprise. Wasn't it on a smaller ship?

you did a great job, what music did you use?

If I recall, its from Star Trek insurection and Startrek the motion picture, mixed together.

But he is already quite thick in this and Chekov came in the secons season to the crew. So this can not be his first commentment.
Sorry, for sounding like a nitpicking geek.

It's ok! Chekov wasn't supposed to be on the Enterprise during season one (Khan's comment to him was a mistake by scriptwriters of the film)!

its actually Kirk's last command. This was the last aired episode of the series.

Yes. Its a clip from the very last episode of Star Trek. I mixed it in with my own CGI animation.

who's voice at the begining? It sounds like Shatner....???

Nice work. Chekhov wouldn't have been there, though, as he didn't join the crew until the second season -- or, if you will, the second year of the five-year mission.

he would have to have been a crewman on the enterprise in the first year in order for Kahn to remember who he was in Star Trek II ;)
